You're right. Performer Sister Fanny is definitely out.

What? $300 per hour for a massage? Did you get the best bang for a buck? Was that sexy masseur really worth every penny?

Beachbumbabs you do a GREAT job. But I think people get frustrated going through pages to figure out who is responding to what.
I understand this is primarily a Vegas site but so many other relatively minor topic have their own section.
I am certain a Atlantic City specific section of this board would drive a ton of HITS to the board.

Just my two cents

Probably already does. No way I can even keep up with the thread anymore if it continues the growth pace, plus as seen today with 5 pages.

AC has been in a deep freeze, especially on the Boardwalk. Much of stores have been temporarily shuttered due to the lack of businesses...

Here is a million dollar question... which stores are still open in a deep freeze on the Boardwalk?

Can I guess which performer is out instead?

Believe me ACMama, you are not alone. I know many who have cut down their trips to AC and some have stopped all together, including myself. You also brought up some great points on post.

Attention, all: I am attempting to split up some of this thread into some coherent discussions. I'll try to go back about 6 months.

All threads are being temporarily slotted under "Vegas Casinos: Silver Nugget", which has not received a post in over 3 years.

The threads all start with "AC:".

Feel free to comment on those sub-threads as usual once they are split. But if you could avoid posting this thread until further notice, it will make it easier to sort it out.

Thanks.
Edit: My eyes are glazed over. I'm coming back to this in the next couple of days to grab all the Revel closing/sale/fail posts into one, then I think the rest can safely be miscellaneous. Carry on.

Why would you move discussion about AC to a Las Vegas sub-forum?

At least move it to Other Casinos where it belongs.

Soda,

What part of "temporary" was hard to understand? If we put in an AC forum, it will then be easy to find and move everything at once, as it's all clustered together. The "Other" forum has a couple dozen threads recently active, and the AC stuff will get mixed in within a day or so. I expect it'll get there if there isn't an AC section created, but I've found JB/Wiz/Zuga to be pretty responsive to requests, so I went with the odds.

Grumpy Cat says he's got nothing on you. :)

Here is the best war story from an AC roulette expert:

J, "the wheel", had chased #17 for 27.5 hours straight, non-stop. Up to spin number 1,079th, he had lost all his bankroll except for $1,300. On the 1,080th spin, the "shooter" screwed up. Instead of hitting the sector of #31, the "shooter" misfired and spun the marble onto #17. J, "the wheel" got paid $45,500.

So stayed at the Taj Mahal Thurs-Sat. of last week some observations:

The place was a ghost town. Thursday was really dead...one craps table open, two or three roulette tables, half a dozen bj or carnival games open. I really think the staff may have out numbered the gamblers. Friday and Sat were a little busier (as you'd expect) but I also walked next door to Resorts where there was much more action. As well as Bally's/Caesars also much busier. The high limit area was completely closed Thursday (never seen that before) but open Fri and Sat. with little or no action.

They are obviously trying to save money on anything they can. The restrooms were not stocked with paper towels on Thursday (they have hand driers) but were stocked with them Fri/Sat. I mentioned this to a restroom attendant and he said they are instructed to not stock them except on weekends. Wow.

They are making some attempt(s) to win people back. All the restaurants and shops accept comps at a 1:1 ratio now. Some used to be 2:1. So that's nice but don't think it's going to make that much difference. On the other hand when I went to the Trump One card desk to see why my card has stopped working online, they said " they have had many problems with that". But offered no solutions. So that was a waste of time.

The dealers and floor people I spoke with were universally glum about the future. Siting many examples of mismanagement. They all seemed to think Carl Ichan has some master plan to bankrupt the place for reasons only he understands.

Overall summary...I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the Taj...it's where i cut my teeth as a card counter. But it's getting harder and harder to justify going there.

I spent years in AC if you add up all the time I had there from the 80's and 90's and some of the 2000's. I would slip a bum/beggar/homeless/down on your luck, whatever the classification a $10 or $20 bill once in awhile, walking down the boardwalk. But only those that wasn't up in your face or similar. After a while you know who's who. Same as certain parts of Manhattan.

Few AC questions for people who have been there semi-recently. I'm travelling solo Tuesday - Friday in June (following a conference) and am looking for the best place to stay.

> Travelling solo, don't need a nice room or nice food. Prefer to keep it under $20/meal
> Poker player, 1/2 NLHE or up to 10/20 mixed
> Prefer 98%+ bartop VP (I assume they comp drinks in AC?)
> Not sure if all casinos are smoking, but would prefer one with smoking
> Best comp room offers? This may turn into an annual trip

Thanks -

You want the Borgata, none of the others meet all your criteria.

And for the record, if you do stay at Borgata, your room will be nice.

I second that, but most of the VP is not bartop (there are a few bartop machines available in the B-bar). The poker room has your games, but the entire poker room is non-smoking, IIRC (there are smoking areas in various parts of the casino, but NJ is an aggressive no-smoking state). You can get cheap meals there, in the basement.
If government is the answer, it must have been a very stupid question.

At Borgata you will always have a $5 BJ table. During the week there will be plenty of $10 tables, $15 tables, and then $25 and up. Not sure about pai gow.

Free Parking at the Taj now. I wonder if it is more about laying off the people working at the booth though. That person's salary may be more than they take in on parking fees!

I am really curious as to what Icahn is doing. What is his master plan? Clearly he is tossing the $20 million in the garbage. But he must have a reason for doing that, the $20 million he will lose will bring him many times back, that's for sure.

I want to remind everyone that there is only one $5 table at the Borg. It is often full and will, at times, have people standing behind waiting for a seat. It's H17 and it's by the B Bar. Don't want anyone to be disappointed.

So I was reading online that AC casinos have gotten stingier with cocktail service. Evidently CET properties charge a $1 for some drinks, and no free drinks at VP unless you're diamond +? Can anyone confirm this? Sounds like Borgata has the lock just based on how they treat their gamblers.

Well at table games they haven't started charging that I've seen. Been there twice fairly recently. However at machines they have that system where you order the drink right on the machine and a cocktail waitress brings it. They do charge for some higher end drinks unless you are diamond. They have for a while. Draft beer in a plastic cup free, bottle of sam adams. $3. For example. This has been going on for a couple of years at least. So it's not new. If you flag down a passing waitress and order it from her, my experience is no charge. Order from the machine and they are going to charge you.

At least one of the properties in ac doesn't have ordering from machine. When I was at showboat last year I asked for a beer and she asked what level my card was. Since I am low level I got a small, very small cup of draft. I was annoyed at evening tipping for such a small glass.

But while playing bj or caps I was able to get a bottle.

Since you will be visiting in June consider a stay on the boardwalk. You can either drive to Borgota or take the Jitney for $2.25 each way. If you drive and park in a casino lot/garage save your receipt. You can then use this saved receipt to park in any other casino garage/lot until 5:59 a.m. for free.
AChotelexperts often has packages or good deals.

Bally's has touch screen ordering on some machines. bottle of ice cold beer $1 + tip. Or the Jim Beam bar has $3 drafts 24/7.
Picallillies bar and The Irish Pub are just off the boardwalk. I.P. has cheap food Picallillies cheap beer.
Some of the best bar food at a reasonable price is at Ducktown tavern.

Since you are staying during the week you MAY be able to get a room cheaper or close to the price of a smaller hotel/motel.
I would recommend a casino/hotel over a motel/hotel.
Borgota is the busiest casino in A.C. and for good reason. Nobody does things better. However, getting a comped room there is more difficult then most casinos. For comped rooms Resorts, Taj Mahal "if open" may be offering the best chances for comped rooms.
All casinos have 20% of the casino floor dedicated to smoking and all have smoking rooms.

Thanks for the information. I found a rate at Bally's which after taxes and resort fees comes out to $200 for the three days combined. The Borgata was up around $400. Of course, Bally's doesn't seem as nice as Borgata, but coupled with the fact that I'd like to check out as many casinos as possible, the Bally's + Jitney option sounds like my best bet.

I kid you not...

It doesn't matter if there is a gate or no gate @ Trop. There was a "mad as hell" gambler who went thru & broke the gate just right before me.

Gambling seems to burn out the gambler's brain. Perhaps that's why he did such a moronic thing.

Ok I know is the AC portion of WOV but I just got back from Vegas. When CET implemented the resort fee for Platinum I switched my reservations to a comped room at the Palazzo for 3 nights. If I'm going to pay resort fees anyway, it might as well be at a RESORT. Thank you CET or I would have never experienced the wonders of the Palazzo and Venetian. Anyway, blows AC away. I made Gold level, got treated with respect and made to feel I was appreciated, had EVERYTHING taken off my bill including resort fees and my day of beauty at the Canyon Ranch Spa. No how much I gambled? The SAME amount I bring to AC. I did get a lot of play for my money, no big wins, just by putting in a hundred cashing out with 250 and so on. At the end of each day of gambling I think I was always up a few hundred of the days bankroll. I think I'm done with AC. (now don't quote me on that...as I write a TR next month, lol) I finally realized I was in love with what AC USED to be not what it is today.

Congratulations on a winning trip and having a good time in Vegas. Unfortunately, A.C. customer service has always been a little lacking IMHO. Blame it on the unions or demoralized employees I don't know for certain the causes.
It will be interesting to see what becomes of A.C. in the years and decades to come.

Congratulations on the wonderful trip! We had the same experience there, except for the winning part; we lost badly, so badly I still can't say much about it. But that doesn't take anything away from the resort, it was beautiful.

For us it's a 3 hour drive to AC, or a 5 hour flight to Vegas. Sometimes I wonder why we bother with AC.

I was Mrs. Heart's sidekick on this trip and I echo her sentiments. I live 45 minutes from AC and have barely gone there this year. This was my first time back in Vegas In Over 2 years. For my gambling loss of $800 for the entire trip I was comped at Palazzo, played enough to be within 2800 points of Grazie Gold, ate some fantastic meals and saw a great show. I was reminded, as Mrs. Heart said, of how excited I was to go to AC years ago. The little things add up. Having a beautiful well appointed room with amenities and great customer services does indeed make a difference.
I give this post an hour. Tee Hee!

Trump is giving me $200 match plays that you can get two of Th to Fri or Sun to Mon. This is off of $25-50 table play. Much more generous than they used to be, not a year or two back.

I heard that Taj is giving $100 comp dollars to new sign ups. That's crazy. It looks like no actual action is needed
They are putting Uncle Carl's money to good use!

I was there last weekend. They are indeed giving $100 to new sign ups. With a catch. It's $50 freeplay, only good on slots. Does not work on VPoker. $50 comp dollars in a restaurant. You have to earn 40 points for the $100 to activate. Once you do earn the 40 the credits are just on your Trump One card. No slips or anything.

I beg to differ. Donald does
not contol or tun the casino.

BUT as a result of a lawsuit againct Icahn over the use of his name, THE DONALD retains
a 10% iwnership in it .

I chnage my mind.
I'm OK with Corps which pick and choose clienteles. Both insurance companies and casinos have the right to pick and choose customers. They may keep profitable ones and kicked out the rest. But, I'm not OK with a casino supervisor who says counting cards... is like stealing food from a buffet (a foodlifting offense), or video-taping a movie in a cinema (a piracy offense).

Correct. He doesn't run casinos in AC anymore. He considers to run USA as a President.

Per CNBC ( 4 Mar 2015): " Real estate mogul Donald Trump is considering a presidential run..." "'I could make this country great again'"

If he runs, I'll vote for him. He the best guy who knows how to restructure and reduce the national debt. He surely can do better (for his fellow citizens in savings) than Obama who has accrued $6.1T in the debt.

Artemis,

Please don't hijack this thread with politics. Start a new thread if you must; I'm not going to delete or split a single post into a new thread, but I ask that this post not get replied to in this thread. Thanks.

Artemis, thank you for your great contributions on all things Atlantic City. Your knowledge and insight are second to none. Keep up the good work! You and others came to this site because of censorship on an AC site. Their loss is our gain. I look forward to your posts.

I will say it again Trump has nothing to do with any of the casinos!!!!!!!

He has a small interest in the Trump Entertainment Resorts Corporation but If he had anything to do with the casino, he would remove his name without suing thr TER Corporation.

But then again : Ivanka Trump said the deal with Icahn allows the company to retain its rights to monitor the Taj Mahal hotel to make sure it's brought up to their standards.http://www.startribune.com/business/295634871.html

......He (Trump) is particularly sensitive to any negative associations of his name with Atlantic City. He has repeatedly said he has had no involvement for at least six years with the casinos that bear his name.

I win.
