Fremont Street Noise levels

| Nareed Member since: Nov 11, 2009 Threads: 218 Posts: 7281 | I'm doing my serious research for this year's Vegas trip. This is my one vacation a year, so I want it to go well. This year I'm staying around 10 to 12 nights (yes, I must be crazy, I know that; and my mom dind't have me tested <g>). Anyway, I want to stay Downtown and have narrowed my choices between 4 Queens, Fitzgerald and MSS. I favor the first two due to location, but I'm concerned about noise. I think the Fremont Street Experience shuts down around midnight, but how's the noise level from the rest of the street? Do bands still perform past 12 am? How about just the noise made by pedestrians? Many reviews of Downtown hotels mention which rooms face away from Fremont and some warn about noise. I'm a rather light sleeper and don't want to either take a long time getting to sleep or, worse, being awoken in the middle of the night and then taking a long time getting to sleep. On the other hand MSS is well away from Fremont Street, but it's a longer walk from there to anywhere. Though the bridge to the California looks safe enough :) This space is closed for remodeling |

I should have mentioned in my Golden Gate review that there was a band playing right outside the hotel until about 2 A.M., and the noise easily carried into my room. The Four Queens has two towers. The nicer one is closer to Fremont street, so you should be okay in the economy tower. I don't recall being bothered by the noise when I reviewed the Fitz. As you mentioned, the MSS would be the furthest away, by far. The noise issue aside, I would still go with the MSS. I like the decor of the place, there is a tranquility about the place, and the food is good. It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet. |

Noted.
Those details tend to be very useful. Of course, I'm sure there are many other details you noticed. Some wnet into the review and others didn't. You can't add everything.
Noise is one consideration. But the major one is price. This space is closed for remodeling |

I've noticed when the weather is cooler, the noise level is way down, i.e. Noise level is directly proportional to the Temperature. I've said it before: Anytime the casino offers a bet for less than the table minimum, ask yourself why. --DJTeddyBear |

The plan is for the first half of May. It may change to teh second half, or even the first half of June.

Change? That'll affect the WOV CON II planning, won't it? "So as the clock ticked and the day passed, opportunity met preparation, and luck happened." - Maurice Clarett |

Yes, but it would affect it if I don't show up, too. Or it would affect me. And that's WovCon ][ BTW ;) This space is closed for remodeling |

| teddys Member since: Nov 14, 2009 Threads: 100 Posts: 2725 | I would also vote for Main Street. It is very quiet and relaxing there, like the Wizard said. People complain about the highway noise, but too me it just sounded like white noise, and was actually kind of relaxing. I don't think you could do wrong at Four Queens or Fitzgerald's if you ask for one of the back towers. I prefer the Fitz casino to the Four Queens. It is a lot less chaotic and crowded. You could also try the California which would have NO noise issues whatsoever. Get a room on a higher floor if you can. Note that most downtown rooms have AC units that can be pretty noisy when they fire up. They will cycle on and off all night depending on how you set them. It can get pretty aggravating when the temperature is too hot to go without it. |
