I will be in Vegas soon and we are staying at the Cosmo (because they take dogs mainly but I think it's really nice -- never stayed) BUT I have friends staying at the MGM and we have plans to meet by the Lion's Den. I know that there's that walkway there right by the Lion's Den that goes across the strip. How do I get there besides a taxi? The guy at the Cosmo told me to go out the east doors by the Bond Bar (I can't remember the name) and then head towards the Coca-Cola Factory, but I was thinking maybe the monorail for 5 bucks, is it -- to New York and taking the walkway? I have been to Vegas many times but with the doggie and all, I have to reinvent my routine! Or, I was thinking I could cut through the Miracle Mile SHops or go to Harmon and get in through there. Don't know, just want to figure it out before I pack so I don't freeze. I don't have a lot of fat! Thanks! |

As you look across Las Vegas Boulevard, you'll see Planet Hollywood to your left. Stay on your side ( the West side ) of Las Vegas Boulevard and walk South ( to your right ). You'll pass the rest of City Center, the Monte Carlo and then New York New York. When you get to NY NY, take the escalator up to the walkway that crosses Las Vegas Boulevard and you'll be right there at the MGM where the Lion's Den is located. It's an easy walk, night or day. |

Your directions were my first thought. Sorry to be a pain, I walk fast, how long do you think I'll have to be outside because it will be nighttime? Thanks again!! |

A walk from the Cosmo to the Lion's Den of the MGM should take all of about 15 minutes, probably less. You can walk on the East side of Las Vegas Boulevard passing the Coca-cola thing and M&Ms museum but you're more likely to be annoyed by the porn slappers. However, on that side of the strip, I do recommend a stop at Fat Burger if you want good greasy food in a hurry and cheaply. Edit: Monorail is not an option. The Monorail is behind the strip casinos and the closest stop is probably the rear of Paris/Bally's and that walk is farther than the Lion's Den at MGM. |

I've already read that the two casinos aren't joined and it's a pain to get from one to the other. I think taking the street is the best option because I have a very poor sense of direction -- never made it as a UPS driver in my youth -- HA! -- so the street never lies, the casinos never want you to exit! Thank you, though, for the suggestion! Just saw this post: ]There's a skybridge from the Cosmopoitan's second floor that goes across Harmon to the front of Crystals. Once you navigate that maze, you're in Aria. A skybridge to Planet Hollywood also branches out of the same entrance. See this Google satellite photo. Would this be better? |
