If you need an Olympic break, the Travel Channel is currently showing "Las Vegas Sucker Bets" with at least one person featured who we are familiar with on this board.

Are you referring to Anthony Curtis?

This was repeated last night, at least on the local cable's Travel Channel. It was some kind of Vegas marathon. Some of it was lame, but some of it was pretty good. I didnt get to watch it all, but saw the WoO advocating Banker in Baccarat, pay table surfing in Video Poker, and commenting on some other games I think. Point he was making on the other games was probably to avoid Sucker Bets, but I forget exactly.
"Baccarat is a game whereby the croupier gathers in money with a flexible sculling oar, then rakes it home. If I could have borrowed his oar I would have stayed." Mark Twain

Yeah, I was playing poker at a local club and they had it on. I was touting WOO as the definitive website for gambling. Those shows are SUPER old though. Most of them are at least 5 years old, and I can quote some of the lines by heart (yeah, I love watching shows about Vegas even in reruns). One of the shows featured the inside of Aladdin BEFORE it turned to PH.

Yeah, they really are out of date aren't they. Travel Channel cranked out a lot of Vegas related stuff back in 2001-02-03, and then they completely stopped.

I specifically watched the end of a couple of episodes to check out the copyright, and they were both MMI (2001). My buddy recently did a voiceover for a similar show about Vegas (the same kind of one shot show, not a series) and I think it was for HDnet. Maybe we'll see it soon. He said the experience was neat. He's basically the narrator, and he was just in a studio with a monitor watching the footage and he'd be told where and when to read each part.

Another part that cracked me up (I was watching it again yesterday during the day!) was when they said if a player wanted to dispute a payout how surveillance (sp?) would go to the TAPE and watch it again. They show the VHS tape popping out of the player. Hard to believe that 10 years ago that was the latest and best technology. I'm sure all cameras are now recorded on DVR.

Yes those travel channel and Players Club tapes are old now. So too is the material on Utube about that entire ranching town in Texas that was flown to the various Las Vegas casinos. BBC director also did six tapes on Las Vegas about whales and hosts. Not very informative and not very recent either.

I didn't know they were rerunning that. Thanks for letting me know. While that show is rather dated, from what I remember about it, the advice should still hold up well. There were lots of gambling advice shows made in the early 00's decade (and I still say it needs a term) but none for a while. I always volunteer when asked, but it has been years since I have been.
It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet.
