James Randi's 2014 movie, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2246565/ . Interesting. Leaves one with a few things to "sleep on".

I posted for a while over at his internet forum. Is it still there? I imagine so, because it had a lot of traffic a couple of years ago. Too intellectually deep in some ways, but not enough in others.

He had a million-dollar offer to the psychics and gambling systems players to prove a degree of it. As I recall, his serious detractors claimed that his challenge requirements wouldn't allow for even the possibly legitimate psychics and gambling systems players.

The movie was very good. I especially liked the first 2/3's of the movie. The last 1/3 of the movie was about the fact that he is gay and the legal problems of his partner which was less interesting to me.

It was less interesting to everybody. So
he's Gay, so what. Here's a clue, Randi:
Nobody cares except you..

This is as good as the movie.

Yes, but Randi left me with the impression that also the debunkers ought to be debunked from time to time.

It's like picking away until no one and nothing remains. Then, you have to conclude that the answer is in what was thrown away, and not the nothing as Sherlock Holmes might have concluded.

Then, you come to Bertrand Russell's thought about the set of sets which don't contain themselves containing itself but not. And, the question, "Does the ultimate question/answer lay in the self or the other?"

In my opinion, best to find the answers which have the potential for more questions. If you find an answer which is "too definite" or comfortable, then you're definitely not on the right track because you're not on any track.

Add on: Alan and the Wizard might as well "argue" themselves blue in the face with the dice until they both come to realize it's in the self and/or the other.

Add on #2: 333 = 101 + 11 + 2 + 3 + 41 + 5 + 61 + 7 + 83 + 19, where each term is the smallest prime containing 0, 1, 2, ..., and 9, respectively, http://www.numbergossip.com/333 . For the purists, it's also about the first ten counting numbers, 1 to 10, as in 333 = 11 + 2 + 3 + 41 + 5 + 61 + 7 + 83 + 19 + 101.

Along the same lines is the Ricky Jay docu-biography, Deceptive Practice: The Mysteries and Mentors of Ricky Jay.

I am mystified by the block of ice illusion. That makes me happy.

Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women is a great collection of accounts of magicians and side show performers of the last few hundred years, and a source of constant enjoyment for me.

I like where Uri Geller is on Johnny Carson,
and Randi tells Carson not to let Geller's
people near any of the props. Geller did
an epic fail because he couldn't use his
own rigged props.
