This particular question is probably idiotic, but I shall ask anyway.

The machine I chose for my low rolling VP play used to be in the non-smoke area sports betting bar in my casino, however, they recently experienced a power outage and replaced EVERY machine in there with even worse pay tables and different games than I was playing. That means the only machines that have my particular game are all in the only two smoking areas in the casino. Asking people not to smoke is not an option, because you know exactly where you are and what you are expecting, and it is within their right to smoke and do whatever they want no matter how much I do not like the smell and potential health issues.

Now, there are some worse pay tables of the same game in the smoke free video poker room, but I would be sacrificing an additional 2% in house edge.

So I just simply want to ask the opinions of people, would you sacrifice the EV for a smoke free environment? Or not? I am speaking from the viewpoint that I am playing mostly negative EV games, my main game is definitely negative EV right now.

I got suggested one time that I could wear a N95 mask in those areas, though I do not know how effective they are with reducing SHS and I would look absolutely like an idiot while playing my machine (and I have to take it off anyway when I sip my drink so am I really preventing anything there?). I honestly just wanted some opinions and what some people might do in this situation. I know I can't completely avoid it but I would like to mitigate smoke as much as I can if I really have to stay in these areas to play my machines I like.

Start smoking, then you won't even think about the worse pay tables in the non-smoking area.

Unfortunately you will probably wind up inhaling the smoke.

I have been in similar situations and you will try to gamble smoke free but when you start to see your bankroll affected you will just bite the bullet and eat the smoke.

You already gamble. Gambling with your life is just one more aspect.

What do you mean when you say ERVRY machine? A particular bank of machines or all of the machines in the area?

It's not just the smoke, it's often the smell of rotting teeth and gum disease that the smoker exhales as well.

A great solution is to carry battery powered fans.

You know what, im going to leave that typo in there for laughs, basically I just mean all the bartops in the sports betting bar area, about 5 of them IIRC, they have been replaced by probably the worse paytables I have seen here...

At Target they have an awesome rechargeable fan that will run for 6 to 8 hours. Back when I bought mine it was only about
$15.

Apologies for the misrepresentation of that haha. Never know though, if we ever get a severe enough storm the power outage could make a huge portion of the machines go out and be replaced, though I wouldn't count on them replacing them with anything advantageous.
