They're also giving me $600 in free play (basically $40 every 2 days). That's about 125% of the total amount of money that I've put in play in their casino in my life. I assume that they do this because my mailing address is in MN and they know I won't/can't use the freeplay. I wonder how long they'd keep the offers coming if I used them. I'm 90% sure that I'm going to accept a new job in Philly, so maybe I'll get to find out...
Quote: rdw4potusI just got my May promotional mailer from Harrah's Chester. It mentions that they're changing names to Harrah's Philadelphia. Chester isn't exactly close to Philly, but whatever. I suppose Harrah's Wilmington doesn't make much sense, either. I wonder if they'll have new chips...
The race track is about equidistant from the Philadelphia city line and from the Delaware state line. But Chester is one of the most violent cities in Pennsylvania.
Slot machine revenue is nearly flat since they opened.
$24,232,768 March 2007
$25,820,331 March 2012
Table Game Revenue is not that high compared to competitors (last month)
$12,119,922 SANDS BETHLEHEM
$11,068,335 PARX
$7,874,322 HARRAH'S CHESTER DOWNS
$7,586,050 SUGARHOUSE (Downtown Philadelphia)
Presumably they are trying to improve their image a little.

Just had to cause a little more trouble, didn't you? ;-)
If you do find out about new chips, please let me know. I expect to make a trip some time this summer to visit my sister-in-law in New Jersey (Hurricane Irene got in the way of my last attempt) and pick up chips from Valley Forge, Revel, and Atlantic Club. Stopping by a "Philadelphia" casino in Chester wouldn't be far out of the way.

Waaaait a minute! I thought Valley Forge was going to be slots-only. How/when did they get tables? Is the other mini-casino (the one in the middle of nowhere) also going to have tables?

Yes, they are both going to have tables. The one in the "middle of nowhere" in Southwestern PA is on indefinite hold pending the resolution of the lawsuits.
But you are correct, tables were not part of the original law. But the operators wanted them as the tax rate is much lower on tables. But they are limited to 50 tables.

Well, consider how both football team allegedly from New York City play in another state.
And back when Volaris and Interjet flew only from Toluca, they advertised their flights as originating in Mexico City (Toluca).
Or for that matter the Las Vegas Strip is not in Las Vegas.

At least Valley Forge has low-cost ways for a cheapskate like me to get into their casino without purchasing their annual membership: either purchase a $20 three-month membership or spend $10 per person in a restaurant/bar/shop before going into the casino. In contrast, in the event Nemacolin Woodlands Resort prevails and gets the "middle of nowhere" casino, I have heard of no plans to allow us commoners into the casino other than paying to be guests at the resort. I just checked their rates for the same night as WoVCon][ and the available rooms run from $395 to $815 for the night. None of the luxury rooms are listed as being available. That is higher than the standard rates at the Greenbrier, and I was only willing to stay there to get my souvenir chip because they were offering a promo rate of $149 for a mid-week night during construction of their main casino.

I'm planning an AC trip sometime soon for my bday. I need to snag Atlantic Club, GN AC, Revel, and Valley Forge chips. Tropicana must be desperate...I just got comp rooms through June 30 2X a week, and they have NEVER offered me comp rooms during beach season, especially considering my lowly level of play. I'm going to Vegas in June, so if I do go to AC, it'll be a poker-tourney and souvenir chip trip. GN poker tourneys, judging by their structure, look like they could be fun...if they can get the players.

Way to go on the Tropicana rooms! Let us know if they actually book the rooms, or if it's just a ruse to get you to call them. I got free room offers any day at Resorts, but of course, the days I wanted were not available.
Tropicana isn't hurting as much as Atlantic Club but I think there is a fear that Tropicana (which might be the 4th "sexiest" hotel in AC, behind Borgata, Harrah's and Caesars) will fall quite a bit with Revel. I'm not sure if that's true, but I'm SURE the fear exists.

I almost always stay @ the Trop (on comp rooms) when I go to AC. I've almost never had a problem booking rooms as comps there...in fact, almost every time I get a comp room (which is for the lousy tower), I get put up in a much nicer tower, and twice on really slow nights, they've put me up in a suite.
I think Trop will become the King of the value casinos in AC as time goes by. I can easily see Trump Plaza, Showboat, and Resorts failing, and possibly Atlantic Club if they can't get their new strategy off the ground. I think Caesars and the three Marina properties will be okay, and I think Bally's will fight it out with Trop (and lose) for supremacy among the lower end properties. For all its renovations, Trop really needs to freshen up its casino, especially the table games area. It looks fresh out of a 1980s game show with all those clear round light bulbs and brass.

Valley Forge is an aging convention center.
Nemacolin looks like the kind of place that if you can't afford an air taxi or a private helicopter to fly you there, you shouldn't be considering it.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is some break in the policy that you can exploit. There is a Bed and Breakfast only 4 miles away. They may extend membership to guests of the B&B as a courtesy to their neighbor. But it is very small and rooms start at $110.
