Hi! I'm considering a trip to Atlantic City; I've never been there before (and thus never rated anywhere there). I mainly play baccarat, but also a fair amount of sic bo, so I tend towards places that have decent Asian rooms. LV Hilton baccarat room told me I rated $95 a hand, which I think is probably about right. I probably play 6-8 hours a day, and usually stay 3-4 nights.

So, I wondered whether anyone could recommend a hotel/casino in AC that has decent baccarat (big table or midi) and sic bo, that would do a decent job with comps for someone who plays at my level. Thanks greatly in advance; I don't know anything about AC, so any assistance is much appreciated!

I believe that AC has gotten rid of big table baccarat. They no longer report any income. Since it is customary to report midi and mini together, I don't know about midi.

CAESARS had 4 big tables in the May report the most for any ac casino. Most of ac got rid of the big tables. The last time I checked thier pit was nice, as for comps its a CET casino.

I was out there in February. Bally's and Caesars both have Asian themed rooms, although it's mostly tiles and Mini-baccarat. I think other casinos have Asian themed rooms as well. Sic bo, to my knowledge, is only at Bally's on the main casino floor

If you like the ocean and plan on getting you toes wet in the Atlantic, Caesars is the only place worthy of your business. You'll get your room comp'd in a hurry when they see you gambling. If Ocean access is less important to you than the quality of the hotel then you want The Borgata. By far, the nicest hotel in Atlantic City ( until the Revel opens and the jury will still be out on THAT ) is The Borgata. Resistance is futile, join the collective at The Borgata.

I spoke without looking. They do have 7 big tables left. Their are 4 at Ceasars, 2 at Borgata that do about $40K drop per day, and 1 at Bally's that does $13K drop per day on average. The mini and midi's are not distinguished in the reports. Strangely enough the mini/midi tables at Bally's average $19K drop per table per day on average.

Thanks greatly! Ceasars was actually one that I'd been looking at (since I'd noticed that they had sic bo), but I'd always heard that CET properties didn't cover much in comps. (I feel like a sucker if I have to pay for my room, especially knowing that if I'd stayed elsewhere I wouldn't have had to.) But, I get the impression from this thread that I was either misinformed or mistaken. So, I might call their hosts; thanks again so much!

EDIT (almost forgot):

Is because the mini/midi tables eschew much or all the pointless ritual that makes the game fun and therefore play more hands per hour.

When City Center opened on Las Vegas, for the first two weeks the big baccarat tables had drops on the order of $1 million per day. I think at that point you don't care if people are tearing up packs of cards.

When the drop is $13K per day on average, then tearing up cards is a noticeable expense. And yes, you worry about hands per hour. If the casino earns 10% of the drop or less, than they have to pay dealer expenses, plus their share of the overhead of the casino.

With mini and midi the casino controls the cards, and the pacing of the game.

I've played at midi tables where I've been allowed to handle (and mangle) the cards ($25 min or higher). No passing the shoe or anything, though. Playing baccarat online has gotten me more comfortable with midi tables, since now I'm used to having all the cards facing me. I still prefer a slower game, and enjoy the pointless rituals, so I'll take big table whenever I can get it, but I can live with midi. Mini-bac just isn't baccarat anymore for me, though; a huge part of why I (and probably most people who like baccarat) play is for the experience, and mini-bac has stripped the experience away to the point where you might as well be playing online, in which case you at least don't have to tip anyone. JMO.

The huge surge in baccarat play in Las Vegas the came starting in mid 2009 which drew them out of the low points was all in big table baccarat. If anything mini and midi baccarat dropped even further in revenue. So, clearly your sentiments were shared by many players.
