I'll be doing a r/t Princess cruise out of Seattle later this month. I will have 24 hours to sight see before the cruise, and 24 hours to gamble afterward.

I will have a rental car-anyone have any idea which are the good casinos in the area? I like low minimums and good rules, but beggars can't be choosers. Any recommendations for any of the casinos for any reason would be much appreciated.

Edit: Really should be Seattle Area Casinos. All your casinos are belong to us.

There are 3 Tribal casinos within reasonable driving distance from downtown: Snoqualmie, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot. Emerald Queen isn't much further. They all have realatively similar rules and minimums.
Note that while they all have 'machines,' they are really just elaborate pull tabs (Meaning your outcome is pre-destined. You can be dealt a Royal Flush, throw it away, and get it right back on the re-draw, etc)

There are also multiple non-tribal cardrooms all over the place. However they are only allowed to deal card games (no craps/roulette/machines) and tend to focus on the Carnival style games.

I've been to the Northern Lights casino, which was quite nice. However, it is too far to drive from Seattle. There is a decent card game casino called the Silver Dollar right by the airport. However, unless you're bored with Seattle, I'd save your itch to gamble for the cruise, and do other things while you're there.

yah you can always go to the market downtown and watch them toss fish to eachother. pretty neat spectacle to check out if youve never seen it before. also when youre walking around downtown seattle, start your sightseeing at some location uphill and trek downwards so you dont tire yourself out too quickly.

Snoqualmie and Tulalip are both quite nice with a variety of $5 games. Snoqualmie is closer to downtown. I would choose Snoqualmie over Tulalip unless I was specifically headed north. Fridays and Saturdays Snoqualmie gets quite busy, and I've been there when the only open tables were $10 or more.

I don't know your game, but Tulalip does have 1-4-6 three-card poker. I think their craps is at least 5x odds. Snoqualmie is 3,4,5 on craps. I don't know three-card for anyone else.

Angel of the Winds is just a bit further north than Tulalip and has cheaper gambling (at the cost of being rather less glamorous). Angel of the Winds has $3 craps (10x odds) and blackjack as well as other games, plus some really cheap food. If I were headed north, I'd hit Angel of the Winds.

Thanks for the input...Angel of the Winds sounds pretty good. How far north is it from Everett?

We are doing the Boeing Tour in Everett that last day too so it won't be all gambling. It'll be a Sunday evening, so hopefully they won't be too crowded.

Sorry to double post, but appending what the Wiz said

I didn't realize the distinction btw casinos and card rooms in WA.

That being said, where near the airport or everett (or in between) might I find a card room with $3 blackjack? Any casinos in that area with $3 craps? Thanks for the input.

The Boeing Tour is just a couple of miles off I-5 at exit 189. Tulalip is exit 200 and is impossible to miss, being right next to the freeway. Angel of the Winds is at exit 210, just a few minutes off the highway -- turn right at the end of the ramp, then left when the road ends, and the casino is about 1/4 mile on your left. If craps is your game you should know that AofW only has one table. Tulalip has 4, but will only have two open until later in the day. Both have 10x odds. Tulalip has $5 minimum, with one table at $10 when it gets busy.

Just make sure that when you are driving to these casinos that you are not doing so during rush hour as the commute times will be bad from downtown out to the burbs. Funny thing is that I lived in Seattle for 2+ years yet never gambled there despite being about 20 minutes away from one of the big casinos.

But there are lots of things to do in Seattle besides gamble. Take in the Pike Market, see a Mariners game (fantastic stadium), or go check out the Concorde at the Museum of Flight.

Here is what we have scheduled for seattle:

The first day we arrive we will walk around the downtown areas, and hope to take in pike place, the space needle, possible (doubtful) the EMP. The next morning, we will go to the Museum of Flight, then go on our cruise.

On the return, we are going to do the Boeing tour, which ends at 4:00 pm. Our flight does not leave until midnight, so that is when we will be doing some gambling, as there is probably not enough to see much more downtown at that point.

Pike Place market should be a must. Try to time it when they unload (throw) the fish. They do it at certain times only. Across the street is the original Starbucks location. I would definitely go to the Silver Dollar as your time killing casino. As I wrote before, it is right across International Drive from the airport, although still a bit far to walk. That casino is where I took the picture at the bottom of my blackjack side bet page, blackjack appendix 8. I'd be interested to know if they corrected the spelling in the sign.

You won't find $3 tables of any kind at any of the tribal casinos. $5 is even starting to get rare.

Since you are already going to be in Everett, Tulalip or Northern Lights are probably your best Tribal bets. Tulalip is pretty extravagant (and the big outlet shopping mall is next door). I've never visited Northern Lights.

If you really want a $3 table then you need to look for the small state licensed card rooms such as Chips, Silver Dollar, etc. I don't know where these are located but I'm sure a web search will trun them up.

FWIW the state receives no tax revenue from the tribal casinos thanks to good lobbying on their part.

Another downtown touristy thing to do is the 'Ride the Duck' tour. They take you around in one of those amphibious bus/boats.

Pike Place market is best on the weekends when it's more crowded, more vendors, etc. The fish market guys will throw the fish when people purchase or when they are hustling a sale so you never know when it will happen. (We Seattle folk always find it amusing that every time a local sports event is on national TV there is the required visit to Pike Place to see the fish)

Thanks for the suggestions!

We'll probably head up to Tulalip or Angel, and then if we have extra time by the airport, we'll stop at Silver Dollar. Wiz, I'll let you know about the sign.

Slyther, thanks for the tip on the Duck tour. I'll probably avoid it. I live in Boston and have to deal with those things quacking at me all the time. The DUKW vehicles are pretty cool though.
