Was at Bally's AC on Wednesday, 10-19-2013. In dealer pit, saw what what looked like black and white laser-printed piece of paper entitled "TOM HYLAND CARD COUNTER", with picture of what I suppose is Mr. Hyland. Was actually playing craps when i saw paper; when I craned my neck to look at it more closely, pit person put something on top of paper so I could no longer see.

Also, same trip, noticed that at Golden Nugget AC, dealers at 3CP do not deal their own hand until players are done betting. Reason is obvious, just have never seen or seen reference to this before.

Things always get tight when profits are down. Quite often those actions just accelerate the downward spiral.

The dealers leaving their cards in the cradles in 3CP has been tried many times before in LV. The problem is two fold. It slows down the game, which in itself is a problem and secondly there could be an issue with misdeals. Imagine a player getting dealt a Straight Flush, seeing the hand, betting it and then, when the dealer removes their cards from the shuffle machine, the machine emits an error and the hand has to be called dead (This is SOP in almost every casino I have ever been in). Put yourself in the shoes of the dude who got the Straight Flush.......Not a fun time for the casinos.
In my opinion it is again the casino who over reacts to AP's hitting them. Why not just fix the problem???? Sort out your dealers?

Also in my casino operations and surveillance experience casinos go through cycles where they will forget the Hyland group exists and only worry about their operations then, one person spots an AP and somehow links him to a possible associate of the Hyland group and then before you know it the whole casino industry recycles pics of the most famous AP's on the books currently. It is all knee jerk reactions in my opinion.

All that piece of paper is, is an alert from either Surveillance or the DGE alerting the properties that Hyland or associates could be in the area.......In my opinion, WHO CARES! :)

Actually saw this happen, guy had a $50 bet on the Pair Plus and started screaming for joy at the big payout he was planning on receiving.

Only for the dealer to remove his "hand" from the shoe and turn up two cards instead of three.

The first pit boss to comer over, was an older Asian gentleman and immediately called "Misdeal"

This caused an immediate outburst from the guy who said "No fucking way. this is bullshit! I finally get a Straight Flush and you're not going to pay me?!?!?"

Pit boss #1 says "He have no card, he can't play the hand"

This of course was not an acceptable explanation and the guy erupted saying "I don't give a shit. You dealt me my hand first and it has nothing to do with his. You have to pay my hand, get a manager here NOW!!!"

So a Floor Person comes over after a few minutes and the guy instantly starts yelling at her that "This is a conspiracy and they are trying to cheat him and he'll never come back if they don't pay him what is his!"

So the Floor person, a middle-aged woman from Egg Harbor, says "Ok, this is what we're going to do. The dealer is going to take the top Card from the deck and that will be his hand. Ok?

Angry man agreed of course, as the dealer's hand was 10-4 offsuit and everyone else stayed in figuring the dealer would not qualify.

The dealer pulled the top card from the deck and ended up with a K-10-4 unsuited. Dealer turns over the guys hand of 7-8-9 Spades and pays him the $2000 and change for his winning hand.

So it looked like they wanted to scrub the hand, but an idle threat of going elsewhere provoked them to pay out the irate individual.

They'd better!

Their choices were basically pay the guy his hand or pay treble damages, because he'd be almost guaranteed to prevail in a lawsuit for that.

I would have pitched a fit just like that guy. Unbelievable the things casinos will try to get away with. The Pair Plus bet doesn't even depend on the dealer's hand at all!

Anyway, I see that procedure quite often. It doesn't seem to slow down the game that much. Reasonable precaution, but why not just train your dealers better?
