Quote: OnceDearInteresting post Nathan, but it raises lots of confusion in my addled brain.
You get $25 free play every week at that first casino where you have 400 points???? Really!?!?But then you had 460 points at another casino of which you somehow used 400 so you don't get ANY free play? How does 60 points have value of $300? Can you spend that $300? What on?
Please humor me ( as a limey that doesn't know much about Florida comps ) Is this another parable or are you saying that you are currently, literally, entitled to $25 free play every week at that first casino? Or maybe you need to amass another 100 points. How hard can that be?
How much coin in do you have to give them to get that $25 of free play every week Do you really give them so much coin in, to get free play every week? How does that dollar equivalent work? Are the 400 points worth $2,000 of free play or are the 400 points what you received for $2,000 of coin in?
It's just that $25 free play EVERY WEEK strikes me as the sort of comp rate that needs an awful lot of ongoing coin in not just a once achieved points level of 400.
Maybe some specifics about the casino or its scheme, please.
I can't quite understand how you went from qualifying to not qualifying. Would you help me with that, please?
Thanks.
Easy. Remember I had mentioned that I got $250 dollars a while ago on Lotus Flower on just .75 cents. That enabled me to put in a lot of coin in. When I walked in that day, I had 2 points that day. The $250 hit enabled me to get 458 points(Over $2,000 coin in) But it still did not enable me to get any free play. Drats. In Hialeah Casino I get $25 a week due to getting good hits on low bets. For example, I played .20 cents on a game and got over $100 due to hitting the Minor and having the top symbol show up. Gulfstream is the one where I had 460 in points and recently caved and used it. In Gulfstream and Hialeah, one point is $5.

Thanks Nathan, Please continue to educate me. This is useful insight that you can give. I've tried to read about the various points systems at those casinos and your real life experience might be simpler to understand.....
So, let's look at the Gulfstream scheme first... one point is $5. Does that mean it costs you $5 of coin in to earn one point or does it mean that you can spend 1 point to buy $5 worth of stuff? In other words, did you use your 400 points to buy $2,000 worth of stuff ( or $2,000 of free play ) I expect not. What CAN you buy with 400 points? What did you buy and how much of it did you get*
Now onto the generous sounding Hialeah... You earned 400 points by having some good luck on low denomination slots. You won a few $hundred dollars and for that, they granted you $25 for every week in the future? How long do you get that free play? one month, one year, forever? Do you have to do anything to continue to qualify, such as wager $25 of your own cash every week?
That scheme sounds pretty generous.
Please spell out the details in nice easy terms as though I know nothing about points. Thank you in advance.
* for perspective, at my UK casino, they give me 1 point for every £5 of slots coin in. So they give me 100 points for £500 of coin in and 400 points for $2,000 of coin in..... Sounds similar to your schemes. BUT I can redeem those points at the bar or as free play at a rate of 100 points to the £1. I.e. my £2,000 of coin in earns me the price of one pint of beer or one small burger or 1 £4 hand of blackjack. Certainly not worth $25 for every week into the future.
Having played through roughly £2,500,000.00 of Blackjack action, I managed to qualify as a black VIP member. Even that has not got me £25 per week of free play. ( Though I have recently had a few hundred pounds worth of bonuses just this month)
£/$ really doesn't matter in this context.
Usually 100 pts are worth $1 in free play. So worth 0.2%
It's not unusual for soft comps to get double value and cash back to get half value.
Naturally all that varies from store to store.
Cheers, Prozema. That's very similar to my own casino. 0.2% value on slot play and 0.1% on blackjack play. I can't get my head around Nathan's $25 free play EVERY WEEK in perpetuity for having a few piddling slots wins.Quote: prozema$5 per point means $5 coin in to earn 1 point.

Might have to kill two birds with one stone: Emigrate to Florida to live out my retirement, meet Karen and get masses of free play.
Nooooo. Far more valuable to the forum for Nathan to give her teach-in. I'm the ideal student in that I know nothing on the topic. She's now in the excellent position of being the expert ( A bit like with the lottery picks, where I learned what boxed numbers are )Quote: MaxPenI think Nathan should just let OD remain in his state of bewilderment. It is more entertaining this way.
C'mon Nathan, If you can communicate the topic of Florida comps to a thicko like me, I'll be so grateful that I'll link to your tutorials in gratitude. But you must talk down to me and the rest of your students with clarity and simplicity.
Prozema has given me some clues, but I remain clueless as to how you qualified for this $1,250+ per year of free play. I'm jealous of you.
Thanks in advance.
I just cannot fathom why they gave you $25 per week of free play. Do I even understand that correctly? Have they actually told you that you have $25 free play this week, next week, the week after, the week after that etc, etc? Please explain that to me.Quote: NathanWell, I'm a low roller, and playing just .20-.25 spin has netted me $100. Those enable for lots more play and that generates a lot more points. :)
I can see that if you played a few 25c spins and won $100 each time... let's say you did that 10 times in a day and landed $1,000 of total winnings. Let's assume you shoved that back in and won $1,000 again and that you dd that again ... and again, and then walked away with your $1,000 profit ( just as an example of how incredibly lucky you are ) So, at the end of that session, you'd shoved $3,000+ into the machine. They give you 600 points for doing that. Now at my casino, I COULD buy a small beer and a portion of french fries with that. But you say your casino granted you $25 of free play each week, for some unknown number of weeks??? That's the bit I ( and prozema ) cannot grasp. How do they stay in business?
How do you receive this free play? as mailers or what? How long have you been receiving this free play? Might it just conceivably be that you only get ONE lot of $25 free play?
Beats me. I always suspected it was 'amount risked basis.' I'm just grateful for Nathan for enlightening me ( though i still need more help getting my tiny limey closed head around the details )Quote: Mission146I guess every casino on Earth bases their offers on an, “Amount lost,” basis. Maybe, and some places they definitely do, but winning doesn’t necessarily disqualify a person from getting offers.

I agree with that.
I can confirm that. Somehow I'm still lifetime ahead and the offers have taken quite a leap this year. E.g this month , two consecutive weeks the offers were 'Buy in £500 get £50 free' and 'Buy in £100 get £50 free' And last week of july 'Unconditional Mystery Bonus of £50 free play' Each with only 1x wagering requirement.Quote: Mission146Maybe, and some places they definitely do, but winning doesn’t necessarily disqualify a person from getting offers.
These are apparently the kinds of bonuses they now want to give me for my loyalty. Probably just as well, because I was toying with quitting while I'm still just ahead.
No danger they'd let me in, maybe not even as a tourist.Quote: AxelWolfIt's obvious why we need way stricter immigration laws here.

Online? Sounds like an online offer.
These were indeed online. They were outside the normal points system which is valid in bricks and mortar too.Quote: prozemaOnline? Sounds like an online offer.
With each of those £50 freebies I was able to play them up to over £100 before cashing out...

Miami Casino also told me the same thing. "We reward losses, not wins." I completely ignored them for a while and they offered me $10 in free play! At $2 intervals a day! Not including Tuesday and Thursday! This is insultingly laughable, considering Hialeah gives me $25 a week! I'd rather get my free play from Hialeah, considering it is more convenient for me to go to Hialeah anyway and Hialeah gives me more free play. I have to really go out of my way to go to Miami Casino. Miami Casino does have better Slots than Hialeah, I'll give them that. Thumbs up for that. They also make you leave your bag outside where anyone can take it, whereas Hialeah checks it and let's you come in with it. That's a major thumbs down for MC. Hialeah's good slots are in the smoking section, where smokers blow smoke in non smoker's direction. MC doesn't have a smoking section.Thumbs down for Hialeah for that.
Quote: NathanOnce Dear, on Monday, I get roughly $8 of free play after spending $1 of my own money. I pick a beach ball and it says,"Congratulations, you win $8! On Tuesday I get $5, no $1 required. On Friday, I get $7, no $1 required. On Sunday, I get $5, no $1 required. :)
Thanks,
So, If I understand correctly, it's a free mystery prize of between about $1 and £10 ( or even much more ) each day? And you just have to visit each day to get to draw that beach ball?
Is that a literal beachball or some digital representation of one? What did you have to do to qualify to draw these beachballs? just be there at a certain time with your members card? Does every slots player get to just draw a ball, or are you a celebrity loyal VIP?
$5 per day or more is $35 or more per week. That's nice of them if there is no obligation apart from holding $5 worth of credit on your players card.

Quote: NathanDoes a name change mean new Promotion? I signed up like 3 years ago at Mardi Gras Casino and haven't set foot in it in roughly a year. They have changed the name to The Big Easy. Another local Casino said something like,"If you haven't used the Player's Club Card in a year, it automatically expires and you will have to sign up again as a brand new Member." Ironically, I hadn't been to that local Casino in over a year either, ;) So, I am wondering if the brand new name change of The Big Easy from Mardi Gras Casino and the fact I haven't used the card in over a year will give me a brand new Promotion. :)
Las Vegas properties tend to have a very good memory when it comes to new player promotions. I'd like to learn more about alias / pseudonym identification.

There are four animated pictures of beach balls. You pick one and you get a "Congratulations! You won $8!" Message. This is only valid on Mondays. :) You qualify for the Beach Ball Promotion judging by how much you play there and how many points you have. I have the equivalent of $2,000 coin in, so Beach Ball Promotion is what I get! ;)

Is it a daily drawing event? Or did you draw on Monday and it told you what you were getting free each day for the rest of that week?
If It's a daily draw event, do you just have to insert your players card each day and so long as you have 400 points on it, it lets you draw?
Will it REALLY let you do this draw EVERY DAY into the distant future, just because you have those few points?
If you spend those $5 worth of points on a beer or some free play, will it suddenly cancel your right to future draws?
Does it ever deduct points when you do a draw?
You make it sound like you just have to show up each day and they give you around $5 of free play, no questions asked. Hell, I don't get a free coffee till I've sat at a blackjack table and bought in. It took me two and a half million of pounds worth of play before they started to give me the very occasional £50 of free play. You sound like you have it made. Get a very few more deals like this and you could quit the crummy day job.

I think it's really mean how they don't make it well known about the Beach Ball promotion.
I see they have the Flamingo Fun promotion on Mondays which sounds very similar...
Hialeah Promo calendar
Quote: Promo Calendar
FLAMINGO FUN
Invited guests pick a lucky flamingo at the slot machine and win free play.

It usually is Flamingo Fun, where you pick a $8 Flamingo but for Summer, they give Beach Balls instead. On an interesting side note, the voiceover Promotion still calls it,"Flamingo Fun on Monday pick a Lucky Flamingo and win!" When they are clearly Beach Balls for the Summer. ;) :/
Quote: NathanOnce Dear, the Beach Ball Promotion on Mondays is to be used only on Mondays, so you use them or lose them if you don't use the $8 free play the day it is earned. I learned my lesson the hard way on this one. There is a Thursday Promotion that I really don't recommend, because you have to spend $25 coin in to get $5 back in free play. I qualified a while ago for the $5 free play one day but decided I would come use it on that Friday the next day instead. Imagine my shock and confusion when I saw that I didn't have any free play! I went to Player's Club wondering why I didn't have my $5 in free play. I was told that you have to use the free play on the same day it was earned. Drats. I get free play on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Sunday. I don't know how long the gravy train will roll with my 400 points. Maybe it will stop rolling in like 2 months. It's indefinite at this point. ;)
OK. Beachball or Flamingo on Monday. I can get my head around that. So that was $8. Do you really have to attend between 9am and noon on Monday?
Please tell me about the other days. What's the nature of the free play award on those days?
And again, how many weeks have you collected this free so far? Last week, the week before? Every week since June? etc.
Expecting your free play to carry over from one day to another was a schoolboygirl error. Shock and confusion LOL. Sorry, but I can actually visualise you raising merry hell at the Players Club customer service desk.

is it on reel/ video slots only? If so, I suggest you do a little research into some of the vulture slots games to get full value. It would be one hell of an overlay for you under the right conditions. It's probably slightly positive on most of the slots off the top.

Check out the "confusion at noon and midnight" section.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock
Midnight Friday usually means 00:00h on Saturday, which is the start of Saturday, which means it really isn't midnight Friday at all.
2am Friday night - is that because you haven't gone to sleep yet? If you have, is it 2am Saturday morning?
I will often use 11:59pm, to avoid the noon confusion, and while I usually say out loud "12 noon" I usually type 12pm. I also usually say "midnight" but rarely type 12am because, as it tripped you up, it trips up a lot of people.
Being in the computer industry, for something such as log files, we like to use 24 hour UTC.

Sure, but what it the cost of replacing an umbrella, a hobo bag, and bus fare?
Also.
Do you have to play the FP off on slots? If so, dont forget the .75 cost of that.

I just noticed someone getting a small backpack searched at security the other day, and I thought it was odd because big @$$ purses make it in without scrutiny... In Vegas people are walking through casinos with luggage.
Side note: I pay way too much for umbrellas, so the loss of an umbrella is very a sad day.

Fair point, but if you plop down just in front of a waitress, you could probably milk two cocktails out of the deal if you play slow... Nothing like a bus ride after cocktails. Works just like tinder.
Even without the cocktails, it's still a better offer than anything I've seen from the lottery.
