Which means you are focusing on SUPPLY channels, not DEMAND.
Do you blame the County Commissioners who paved that almost mile long stretch of road in the middle of nowhere for building a runway with tax funds?
Do you blame the drug treatment centers in palm beach county that bill ten grand a week for treating drug addicts they recruit in New England and then dump in Florida when their insurance runs out?

Sure, the finger-pointing sometimes correctly finds other guilty parties, very guilty indeed.

But the drug companies have had a nation-wide effect with their influence on the opioid problem and I don't want to see them get away with it. Ohio, Missouri and maybe other states are suing them, along with insurer Anthem and maybe others, we'll have to see how that goes.

As for depraved doctors, here's a tidbit from the link below [which is about Anthem's suit]

Quote:

Two Alabama doctors picked up over $115,000 in speaker fees from 2012 to 2015. Earlier this year they were sentenced to 20 years in jail each for running a "pill mill" ...

Drug companies are not held liable for pushing HPV vaccines such as trying to make them legally mandatory or socially mandatory.

Drug companies often invent a disease so as to market a pill for it.

Drug companies provide ghost writers or 'first drafts' to authors in journals.

I don't know anything about your lifestyle Face but with no mortgage or rent,I would think u could survive on your federal job.

Wait a minute... you have three jobs, one of which is federal with great benefits, no mortgage or rent, no debt, a "family fortune," and yet you're still barely able to manage? Something doesn't add up here...

Apologies for all the confusion, just gripped and ripped that post.

I'm good now. I live a decent to very-decent lower-middle-class life, one where I can afford one yearly vacation and general entertainment. Add the fact that I've found the hustle and can get myself the extras like the car, and that's all gravy.

But it's tentative grasp I have on this life. My boy's getting older, and his wants and needs get more expensive. The "fortune" of free room and board is a temporary thing that's winding down. And when you look at it, the "extras" I enjoy now are an unsustainable thing. I live a very spartan lifestyle, quasi-minimalist. No TV, few utilities, eat 5-7 times a week, stuff like that. This plus the hustle is what gets me the extra.

But once I have to start eating more, my 200k NY truck goes to s#$%, I do get the mortgage... basically once I go "full adult", then yeah, it'll be a 3 jobber just to keep it afloat. And three jobs for a twice used truck and what amounts to "glamping"? I'd rather be a squirrel.

According to him, his marriage was in turmoil because he spent so much money and time on the boat. One night, he had a huge fight when his wife suggested they were in such deep trouble they couldn't afford the boat. He stormed out and spend the night getting drunk on the boat.
Went home the next day, apologized and agreed to sell the boat.

My grandfather used to rave about his old wooden fishing boat and how great it was with no metal to scare the fish. Can't buy them anymore out of wood. You would have to build your own ark, but not sure if there would be trouble getting it registered. Making one on the pretend bucket list.
Looks like sh!t just got imaginary!

I used to have a boat and I can say I will not have another boat. Boats are a lot of work so unless you use it regularly it isn't usually justified.

I have a good friend with a boat who's almost retired. He's obsessed with fishing like some people are obsessed with AP. We go fishing out of Long Beach harbor and catch, and mostly release, about 50 fish between us over a 4 hour period (he always catches more and bigger). The upkeep on his boat is too much for me but, since I pay for parking and post-fishing In-n-Out, I'm always invited. +EV for both of us.

I actually never stepped foot in Walmart until I meet my GF, she likes to save money and use coupons. Their one-stop shopping, low-cost, price matching and great return policy has me hooked.

Ever used the Savings Catcher App?

If you buy an item at some other place but Walmart you scan your receipt. If Walmart sells it for more it credits you the difference.

I have heard of such things, I will have to look into that one.

But already the wheels are turning, I see some potential shenanigans.

Face: I don't know if you are losing the house or merely losing the rent-free status, so crank up the money making side hustles and look for land in area that is cheap and live off grid.

Instead of ornamental fish, try trout.

The kid? A trek in the woods learning about trees is what he will remember.

Upthread: fast build wooden boats are available.
