Quote: ChumpChangeThe uniforms in the above photo appear gray, and it was a B&W photo. But I just found some old video of them from the '60's wearing strange light blue pastel uniforms. It might even be on one of their album covers. It appears to be the same uniforms as in the B&W photo from above. My household didn't get a color TV until around 1980, after the old 20" B&W blew out in a puff of smoke. So seeing old '60's and '70's TV in color is novel to me still.
I seem to remember a national broadcast of the Union Gap doing that Dixie bit back in the day and I found it just way odd.
Here they are in much darker blue uniforms, AND, displaying the confederate stars and bars in their music video.

ChumpChange, please explain this phrase: The war on women is contagion in red states at this time. What does this phrase have to do with the subject being discussed in the rest of the post? Am I correct in assuming that this is political speech?

The FAA has computers that were installed when I was in college. Instead of <example of wasteful federal spending that will get me in political ban-land> we take some of that money and upgrade our air traffic control systems?

Quote: ChumpChangeWhat's the difference between law and politics? The Union Gap was singing songs about women in an era that predated abortion rights and most other women's rights. Abortion rights are being rescinded in just about every red state in very recent months. Lady Willpower, it's now or never. Red states are taking away women's rights that were afforded them after this pop group was popular, and it's well versed in the media that it's a culture war of one sort or another, and could lead to civil war. Women will have to leave red states for their sexual freedom, they'll have to go to a Union state. If you want to let other posters talk about confederates and union but not allow reference to what is going on in present day with Nazis carrying confederate flags around and antifa protesting Nazis, you're out of touch. Politics, politicians, and law took away online gambling a dozen or more years ago, and 95% of the users on a poker chat forum I frequented back then were absolute nihilists towards everybody, much like the freedom caucus is in Washington DC today. But once they had their poker taken away they just lost it, I don't know how they ever recovered. They don't care about anybody unless it's them adversely affected.

you're in a public place - like an airport
you have to take care of business
you head to the bathroom and the stall
and somebody comes into the stall right next to you - with sound effects and everything else
yuck

Definitely unpleasant, but perhaps even more awkward is, when you're at a wall of open urinals, someone takes the one right next to you. I usually say something like, "You can peek if that's your idea, but you won't be impressed."

The Flamingo Hilton had a first floor bathroom with the usual line of urinals on the wall, but the bowls were oblong and stuck about a foot out and no barriers at all. The bathroom also wasn't all that big so you kind of felt like you were standing in the middle of the room, which you pretty much were.
Quote: DRichI once walked into the bathroom at the Las Vegas Hilton and couldn't find the urinals so I had to take a stall. There were quite a few confused women when I walked out of the stall.

Ha! I think we've all done that at least once! It happened to me at a restaurant on a #1, but there was only one woman in there (she was in a stall---I didn't know anyone was in the other stall or that I was in the women's room.) She came out as I was at the sink and I apologized for the mistake. She said, "It's 2021, I just assumed you were a woman who happens to be equipped."
Hmmm a sorta symmetry then. Because if you'd walked into the correct room (opposite side casino floor level) at the Las Vegas Hilton, after entering the one with the plumbing fixtures you were seeking, this is what you would've seen - a semi-famous lifesize mural with some manifestly not so confused ladies:Quote: DRichI once walked into the bathroom at the Las Vegas Hilton and couldn't find the urinals so I had to take a stall. Not that scene, the, "Hug a Cop," scene. The whole movie was hilarious, and I usually am not a fan of Chevy Chase.

The guy kept his word, went to trial, and was found guilty- given a big fine to be paid over the next five years, some community service time, and so on. The contractor went to get his bail back and was told the state was keeping it as the guy owed back child support in another state.
The guy says he lived up to his agreement to show up to every court appearance so he doesn't feel he owes his now ex-boss anything.
Police say it is a civil dispute and to take him to small claims court.
Another case of no good deed going unrewarded.
Quote: billryanA few months ago, a guy I met when he worked on my building was arrested for driving drunk. I guess he was belligerent with the cops as they added a few extra charges like failure to obey, physical resisting of an officer, and littering. His bail was $2500, and he sat in jail for several days while his girlfriend begged people to help her raise the bail money. His boss, my old contractor, ended up putting it up after the guy swore he would make every court appearance.

A bondsman would have cost them about $300. Putting up the cash shouldn't cost anything as he did show up for court.

I think it will be a slam dunk in small claims court, regarding getting the judgment. Collecting may not be so easy. The guy doesn't think he owes the money, but hopefully, the judge will convince him.

The Best Hoax of All: What Happened To Paul McCartney?

Yesterday And Today predates the information in the movie concerning Paul's death on 11/9/1966, so it would seem remarks in the movie about the time prior to 1967 are in error. Just start with the funeral on the cover of Sgt. Peppers, and introducing Billy Shears (Paul's alleged replacement)..

Hmm, I'm thinking Judge Judy would not award his boss any money if the guy held up his original promise. She doesn't give out money on expectations the person should have done something 'cause someone ''expected" them to act in good faith to what would be the intent of the promise. She'd probably tell the boss he learned a lesson.
