weeks after. Its the sickest I've ever been and I thought
I was dying. It finally moved into pneumonia and the
doc gave me antibiotics which knocked it out. Good luck,
Mike.

My daughter did the exact same thing. It was her birthday, and she got the chills and bad feelings late in the afternoon, and her mom took her to a sauna. My kid was very sick for three days and it took her about a week to get fully over the thing. I didn't get it.

Why do people do that? Chills means you have a fever,
don't they see in the movies and on TV when somebody
has a real high fever they put them in icewater? A sauna
and you're cooking on the inside and the outside and your
body gives up. As soon as I get the chills I take my temp
and its always up. Always.
Feel better, Wiz!
Quote: EvenBobWhy do people do that?
I'll admit, anytime I get a sinus infection, which includes a fever, and I have to get rid of it today, I bundle up and bake myself overnight. Sweatshirts and pants, layers of blankets, it's a miserable night. But with a sample size of 4, it has worked every time.

also, all household should have a thermometer on hand.
Although, it's usually the last thing I check when I can't find any obvious reason why I don't feel well. But aside from chills, headaches sometimes are associated with fever too.

I was 45 before it started to be the first thing
I checked. I have a therm about 1 foot from
where I'm typing. Why do you think its the
first thing they check in a doc's office when
you're sick. You should check it often, a low
grade higher temp that lasts for days and you
can't even feel can mean many things, none
of them good.
Take it easy and try to make the most of your time relaxing while you are recuperating to just put your brain in coast mode for a while.
I want all of you to get flu shots... for my sake.
Because I had a kidney/pancreas transplant, I can't get the flu shot. So the more of you that get it, the less likely I will catch it.
Regarding saunas: this has to go back maybe 50 years ago, but I recall a news story about some researchers in Israel who claimed they could cure the common cold with treatments of hot, humid air.
I just did a google search and found many claims that warn, humid air will make cold sufferers feel better and it can inhibit the virus.
I know that in the past when I've had a cold, I've spent some time sitting in my car, windows up, no AC, in the sun and I actually felt better after a few minutes in the heat. Of course you have to be very cautious about sitting in a hot car.
Get well soon.

Whats the over/under on the Wiz picking up something worse than what he has while in the hospital? Or, I'd be willing to chip in to a pool to hire a male stripper to go in and give him a spongebath...
Might cheer him up.
Feel better, Mike.
Quote: BuzzardIf memory serves me correct, Mike has a live-in CNA available. Talk about a lucky man !
One of those Heart Attack Grill hotties?
Here's something to cheer him up...

Be honest now ... who else had to look up the word "febrile"?

I just ignored it and went with the words that i know.
Get well mike.
Over/Under on the Wizards peak temperature measurement during this incident: 103.2 F What say you?
Mike said that when he was very febrile, he was delirious, and kept saying he could beat VP using 'special plays'.
He kept asking for his special drink.... Loganberry.....
He also has finally found the long lost system to beat roulette.... perhaps he is having a relapse....
Quote: SOOPOOMike is better. He expects them to keep him one more night. Presumptive diagnosis, as postulated by Dr. EvenBob, is flu.

I hope he doesn't start thinking he is John Patrick.

If he does, I hope he charted the hospital before entering.

And please don't ever lose the system again!
Get well soon, Mike!

Lot of people react that way. It's antural. Last time I had a high fever (around 1989 or so, if memory serves), I took some hot coffee and huddled under three blankets. You don't think "I've a fever and must cool down." You think "I'm really cold and I need to warm up."

I'm not a Dr anymore, they took my license away. I
thought Mike was only delirious on the radio show.
This sounds serious..

It's not just natural, it's essentially the correct instinct. If I remember this correctly, your body IS trying to warm itself up, that's what a fever is: your body has intentionally set it's 'internal thermostat' to a higher level to fight off an invader (bacteria, virus, etc.). Your body needs help to raise it's temperature, and sends out the chills sensation to get you to take warming actions.
And you should warm yourself up! It helps, that's what your body is trying to tell you. The trick is to not overdo it. Blankets are always a good idea, but a sauna or steam room that isn't carefully monitored is probably overkill.

LOL! That's the funniest thing I've seen in days!
But really, is it more likely that a sauna will cure a fever or that intentionally making VP strategy mistakes will make a person rich? Positive variance can only make one of those things a reality...:-)
