Casino X is having the following promotion: Play $35 cash in a machine, get $5 free slot play. Free slot play can be downloaded immediately after you play the $35. The best game is 25 cent 5-play 8/5 bonus poker (99.17%). Assuming you can take advantage of this offer an indefinite number of times (you can play $35,000 and get $5,000 free slot play, etc.), what is the minimum amount needed for a risk of ruin <1%?

Casino Y has a match play oddity where when you late surrender, you lose the match play coupon only (cheques get returned), regardless of the bet. Assuming $100 is the table max, and each match play is $20, what hands should you now surrender, and how much is the promotion worth if you can play 3 coupons per day? How about if $5,000 is the table max? Should you surrender all non-blackjack hands? Rules are S17, DAS, DA2, Split To 4 Hands, 6 Decks, LS, blackjacks pay 3:2 on the coupon as well.

In the first promotion, the free slot play does NOT count towards the $35 play requirement for subsequent cycles.

For the first part you are looking at an effective 14% rebate on your action, which is a huge player advantage. If you can keep reloading with the free play, I find it hard to imagine any situation where you could bust out, unless you hit a really bad streak right away. I'd imagine a couple thousand would be sufficient for 5-play BP.

For the second part, I'm not sure, but I think Grosjean addresses it in Beyond Coupons.
"Dice, verily, are armed with goads and driving-hooks, deceiving and tormenting, causing grievous woe." -Rig Veda 10.34.4
