say youre the only person at the table, you just made a point and have comebets out there. say you then want to quit playing. should you then have to be required to make another passline/dont pass wager to make your comebets resolve since there is no one else to shoot the dice? now lets take it to an extreme. what if you hit a string of craps coming up betting the passline and have no more money to make another wager? should you be required to wait for someone else to start playing and shoot the dice?

I'm not sure what the house rules are when there are existing monies up there and no money to shoot with. I think they would let you shoot without a pass line bet simply to resolve the come bets, or return your come bets to you. Of course if you had odds on your come bets they would make you take them down in order to make the line bet.

Definitely an unusual situation. I don't know of any casino that let's you remove the come bets -- yes, you can remove the odds. You also can remove the don't come bets at any time.

Passline bets cannot be removed.

Are you leaving because you're running to the airport to catch your plane? Or you are heading to dinner? I guess they could (and should) hold your bets for you and if they win, notify you that your money is at the cage.

If you're out of money, they can wait till you go to the ATM or till another player shows up. I've seen that happen many times with Don't players who load up Dont Come bets, but keep making the points and run out of cash -- and they have to go to the ATM to keep shooting so their DC bets get resolved.

I have experience with this on the Don't side.

Harrah's in Tahoe allowed me to keep shooting, without a line bet, until all my Don't Come bets were resolved. I would assume Harvey's would have the same policy. However, I do not believe this policy applies at every Harrah's/Caesar's property. Most likely, is it determined by some combination of the whims of the pit crew, floor crew and state law.

In Colorado, state law allows the shooter to keep shooting without a line bet. The relevant statute is CRS 12-47.1-2313 (2):

Quote:

If a shooter, after making the Come Out Point, elects not to place a Pass or Don't Pass Bet, and other wagers remain on the table with respect to Come and/or Don't Come numbers, the stickperson shall offer the dice to the player immediately to the left of the previous shooter, as provided for in (3) below. If there are no other players at the table, or if no other players at the table elect to make a Pass or Don't Pass Bet in order to shoot the dice and continue the game, the previous shooter shall be allowed to shoot the dice without a Pass or Don't Pass Bet only for the purpose of effecting a decision on the remaining Come and/or Don't Come Wagers. The On/Off marker shall be placed on the Don't Pass Line in the Off position in front of the shooter in order to indicate that the shooter is rolling the dice only to effectuate a decision for those wagers remaining on the layout. Once the remaining Come and/or Don't Come Wagers have been decided or a player wishes to place a Pass or Don't Pass Bet the game shall proceed in accordance with regulation 47.1-2310.

(If you invoke this law in Colorado, it is best to have a copy of it with you, as most floor staff aren't aware of it.)

Otherwise, I usually have to have a line bet down to keep shooting. Usually I end up making a table-minimum do or don't bet, or sometimes, simultaneous do and don't bets with a dollar on 12 (or 2 in northern NV).

thanks for pointing out the Colorado law, interesting.

Not all casinos allow the doey dont bet on the pass. But why bother with the high edge bar bet?

Usually I don't bother unless it's a high table minimum. If it's $10 or less I'll typically just make a don't bet without odds, as I'll be happy to have it lose on a come-out 7.

i would just find it extremely unethical to force a player to make a bet they do not wish to make. and ridiculous forcing them to have to wait for another shooter to approach the table.
