In the last 24 hours, I have had six casino hosts from six different casinos in Las Vegas leaving me voicemail messages asking me when I am coming back and how well they will take care of me while I am there. Some of these casinos are places I haven't played in 3+ years. I normally get one or two calls a month.

Did someone with my name just win the Powerball or a huge jackpot? Or are casinos just in a very slow period and need to drum up business?

I got my first ever host call two months ago. It was from the Tuscany.

I was kind of flattered. But not really.

You're not the only one. I've been getting an awful lot of mail by way of various player's clubs lately, some even offering free airfare. I definitely feel like I'm receiving way more offers than normal. I've also started getting mail from junket clubs I've never heard of, and it's probably been about five or six years since I last went on a junket.

From all the hotel reviews I've done for this site I get mailers and sometimes calls from all over town. This despite not betting very much. Harrah's has been trying especially hard.

I am a local and have been trying to get a casino host for years, gambling $300-$500 a week. Even made a couple calls, but can't ever get a call back.

I would think it unwise to introduce yourself to a casino host by telephone.
An email disclosing your usual habits to the casino host would be simpler. I'd pick a host you think you might want to have and email them directly. If you are a "Local" are you likely to gamble on certain days? If so, make sure your host is there those days. They do have "weekends" off, but rarely an actual weekend.

And there are certain casinos that try to emphasize their Staycation business, are you interested in them?

Times are rough, and getting rougher.

No surprise that hosts are beating the bushes to drum up new blood.

My host called me back in response to an email about my upcoming comped trip, and threw in an upgrade.

I've never been contacted by a host.

I've also noticed all of my offers have dried up completely in the past couple of months. I use to get free room stays and more (even a free flight!) from a few casinos and chains, including MGM and Caesars (Vegas, AC, Detroit areas) and now I get absolutely nothing. The last mailer I got was for an Indian casino in upstate New York: $5 in slot play if I earn 100 points (which is equivalent to $100 play through).

And its not because I don't play much - I usually will play at the $10 - $25 level table games and some video poker at the $1 level. Sometimes, I'll have my parents (who play lots of slots) use my player's card, too.

I actually "leveled up" in one of the players clubs a few months ago. They promised mailers with free slot play but I never received anything from them either.

I figured the casinos were tightening their belts and cutting comps, but if you guys are reporting more comps now than ever before, maybe I've been blacklisted or something.

Many casinos are tightening their belts and cutting comps.

Nah, more likely you came down on the wrong side of some programmers whim.
Remember revised computer programs have TWO goals. Not just to slice off the list those names that are not all that valuable, but also to slice off the list those gamblers on whom really small bait or even no bait at all can be used. If you keep showing up without any major inducements, well... why should they start sending you any inducements.

Bear in mind that the original poster is something of a High Roller.

I receive a lot of $5 free play offers, but rarely redeem them unless I just so happen to be at the casino and I check for free play and it is already on my card. I wondered though if casinos keep track of players who actually redeem their offers. Are you more likely to receive offers if you actually redeem the offers they send you?

That is a clear violation of the CET rules for Total Rewards. Their actions can include confiscation and barring.

Now don't get me wrong; I am not against having a guy be my casino host, but thus far I have only dealt with a lady (would that make her a casino hostess?).

I think "the vibe" is different, more professional, less sleazy, than it might be if some head-hunter like, oh, maybe Steve Cyr, were my host.

My hostess is smart, hard working, and it doesn't hurt that she's a stone-cold fox.

November can be tricky, what with two holiday weekends. And there used to be the huge computer show early in the month, too.

With Caesars they have their "great" computer system and it is all about ADT and what they think you are worth. Now they are calling more and more if you havent met what they feel is your pattern. Free airfare is becoming more common as they have moved more and more to higher amounts of free play, which they feel they will get back, and then some.

Most of the strip casinos will offer to cover airfare based on play.

Push for rebates on any losses, promotional chips, and free entries into various exclusive tournaments. Rebates are part of the new game.

Push to modify rules on certain games if you're putting up enough money.
