What to know about the UNLV shooting
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is responding to reports of an active shooter on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The shooting occurred near Beam Hall.
There appears to be multiple victims, police said in a post on X.
Police urged everyone to avoid the area.

My daughter, who goes to UNLV, is safely at home.
As I understand it, the shooting took place at or near Beam hall, where I taught my class several years ago.
Otherwise, I can't think of anything to add.

3 shot. Either they stopped the shooter quick, or it was a more targeted shooting.

I understand there's a different reason but, my father in Washington was a hard unaffectionate non non-emotional man, however over the last 20 years he has softened and you'll get a legitimate I love you and a hug from him nowadays.

The suspect in a Wednesday shooting on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, campus that left three dead and a fourth critically injured is a 67-year-old career college professor with connections to schools in Georgia and North Carolina, a law enforcement source told CNN, but it’s unknown what connection he had with the school where the mass shooting took place.
I’d rather have to be a lucky player than good one.

Better info:
The man suspected of fatally shooting three people and wounding another at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Wednesday was a professor who unsuccessfully sought a job at the school.
The suspect, who was killed in a shootout with law enforcement, previously worked at East Carolina University in North Carolina.
So many better men, a few of them friends, are dead. And a thousand thousand slimy things live on, and so do I.

They had picked up a suspect in that shooting I believe. Maybe he was not the one if they released him.

Had to have been some more motive going on here other than just not getting a job... someone with his supposed background and qualifications shouldn't have too much trouble getting a job teaching somewhere. I bet there was some love triangle gone wrong or something. Definitely think there's more to the story.

I don't think it is easy for a 67 year old to get a job. I believe they have said that the victims were professors and staff and no students. Have they said if they believe these victims were targeted?
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I agree, but you don't see a lot of older ones being newly hired. Obviously there are exceptions but schools aren't out looking for average 67 year old employees. Those guys have usually been there 20 to 30 years.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.
