Ladies, gents -

From time to time, I have to admit to myself that I don't know everything, nor have I seen even a fraction of what there is to see.

I hear about disputes over someone coming up to a machine, seeing available credits on that machine and playing them - only to have the original owner come up and claim them.

I sat down at a machine - and thankfully noticed the credits in before I added my own funds to it and got out of the chair.

And, I did finally see this happen. But, as much as I gamble, I am surprised I don't see it more often, as much as I read about it here on the forum.

I can't figure out why anyone would leave currency/credits in a machine for any reason other then a mad man trying to shoot you or otherwise cause extreme harm.

Is it the expectation that the eyes in the sky are watching our stuff?

Yes, we are watching.
This feeling is heavy, makes my body ache and I'm ready; To fall into the sky and I see now, the reason why. My heart is heavy, takes me to a place I can't breathe. Only then I know why I see the warning sign.

No, people are usually upset over their losing and rush to an ATM, forgetting momentarily about their credits.

In NY casinos, when you hit over $600 you get a limited voucher to take to the cashier and not a handpay. Many winners are so excited, they don't realize the limited voucher is only for the jackpot win and they still have credits in the machine.

I am really curious to see what the "House" would do with abandoned credits? I know for a FACT, at Trump Taj Mahal, any abandoned credits from Free Play are forefitted. But does the house just clear the machine or leave it there for the next suck... I mean player?

Think it depends on the house and what laws are in place within the state that deal with abandoned funds. Where I work the abandoned credits would be cashed out and the funds are added to a lost monies account. We will review the slot play via reporting software and also by surveillance to try to identify the patron to whom the funds belong. If we can identify them we will add a note to their player account and return the funds next time we see them. If they cannot be identified then the abandoned funds are turned over to the state. We do not like giving the state money so we do make a pretty decent effort to get the funds back to rightful owner.
