On the corner of Stewart Ave. and Casino Center Blvd. there was a statue of what, and where does it reside today?
What two tragic events occurred, one on Rancho Rd. and the other just off Rancho Rd. In Las Vegas?
If you visited the site of Oscar's Steakhouse 40 years ago you wouldn't be eating, you'd be.....?

That's why I wrote that there was a gap. For some reason, no matter how many spaces I placed between the 8th and 9th underscores, there was no space when the post was previewed.

In HTML, all white space (spaces, returns, tabs) get compressed into a single space when displayed on the screen. If you put " " (without the quotes) it will indicate a non-breaking space, and will not be compressed. You can put it multiple times to add a bunch of spaces: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Thanks, wudged. I just corrected my OP.
How weird. You'll notice that your quote in this post did not include the  .

So far all the questions have been answered right, except for the one about Oscar's Steakhouse; and no one's tried to answer the question about Rancho Rd.
Feel free to add your own questions!
Anyone ever heard of Walking Box Ranch? (Not fair to google it! I know, not really "Gambling Trivia" but good Nevada history.)

What casino?
Who is hovering behind The Box?
Two extra marks for Mia's surname.
Quote: beachbumbabsWell, what I'm finding is that the casino (when it was called Union Plaza rather than the Plaza) was the ticket office and station for Amtrak coming into Vegas. So I'm not sure what else it could be, unless it was "brunching with Rick Manetti and His Celebrity Guests" on Sundays under the glass dome.
Explain how this is possible. I walk up to a vacant machine. Machine reads as the following
Player __ Dealer
QH 8H __ KS 7C
Bet 10
Win 80
I was puzzled, It took me a minute to understand.
Bet 10. Win (20). Double Up (or let it ride or w/e). Win again. Bet 40, and win 80.

First of all, I have to admit that I know nothing about HTML, and I have not figured out how wudged got the full command to show up, even after I reviewed the formatting codes page. I suspect that it has something to do with that final semi-colon -- if I add that to the end of Greasyjohn's "nbsp", that all disappears, too.
Anyway, the whole reason for the rest of this two-day-late post is to irritate Nareed, just in case she is reading this thread. ;-)
What the heck is all of this "nbsp" crap, with or without the semi-colon? With a Mac, you just type Option-space wherever you like in order to get results like:
Nareed can't stand Apple Macintosh computers and their very convenient user-friendly operating systems. ___ __
;-)

The trick to get it to appear in your post (as code and not an actual space) is to escape the ampersand using "&" - so " " will appear as " "

It wasn't really a trivia question, more of a puzzle situation, however it was a about gambling. Not many had an answer. Luckily you can't google it and have to actually be a gambler.Quote: RSMy guess, probably wrong @ AxelWolf's post:

You are correct RS I think you should refrain from answering the next one until after a few people guess.
You're casually playing to get a free drink at the bar, varying your bets. While playing you get a 16 v dealers 10 the machine offers surrender. Then you get 14 vs 10 the machine offers surrender.
Then you get 15 vs 10 the machine DOESN'T offer surrender. What's the reason why it suddenly didn't offer surrender?
The first gaming license in Las Vegas was issued to the Northern Club in 1931. The Northern Club is long gone, but what is on that site now?
Here's the pool at Union Plaza.

Some of you may remember Amtrak in Vegas. The run was from L.A. to Salt Lake City to attach to the California Zephyr to Chicago After service was shut down on that route an Amtrak employee told me it was a profitable run. But in order to get some back east Senator's subsidy vote they had to take that train and put a run into his state capitol. And that run has never made money.

Correct, I was thinking 1 coin specifically.Quote: DRichMy guess:

I believe(can't remember, some IGT might be different) It may allow it on higher coin amounts and just round down.

It still looks like this? The postcard is 50 years old.

Quote: GreasyjohnWhen you're leaving the parking structure at Binion's you're also leaving what?
I've stayed at Binions back in the day when the hotel was open.
Had a rental car so parked in their structure.
That being said, I have no idea what the answer is.

Leaving Las Vegas?
I know downtown in in the city limits and the strip is not.

I'll take a guess: the site of the old Fort Apache casino?

There was the Apache Hotel (not a casino and no Fort), but that's not the answer. Before I answer I'd like to give AxelWolf time for a response.

Mint was before my time.

Answer: When you're leaving the parking structure you're exiting onto Casino Center between Ogden and Stewart. The block that the northernmost section of the parking garage occupies used to be called Block 16.

Interesting history of block 16. Reminds me of Baltimore and the "Block"
