Babs, this thread has it's roots in the Jackpot Pictures thread when the Wiz put up a jackpot picture from a game that was 99.17%. I was drinking and made some statements after I saw the picture. Subsequent to that the Wiz made a comment in the Paul Magriel thread about "egotistical AP's. And then you made a statement in the Jackpot Picture thread about AP's categorizing people. I kind of feel like I am probably one of those pro's, no probably THE pro, you guys were pointing your fingers at. After all it was me showing my disdain for thin edge plays.

Starting out with some drunken comments I think I botched the whole thing up. But there is a behind the scenes story as to what my intentions were. I'll try to explain it to you guys. I have Rob Singer blocked from sending me private emails. And I haven't participated in any forums he is on for at least a few years. I've been totally avoiding contact with the guy as I don't need that kind of poison in my life. However, I WAS lurking Alan's site, the only site I know of that Rob is still on....hasnt been barred from. When Rob discovered that the Wiz had sold out he put up a thread called "Wizardy."

The first paragraph started out pretty nice. He actually payed the Wiz some complements. But the following paragraphs were quite the opposite. The phrases that come to mind are the Wiz "was finanacially distraught" before the sale. He "begged for money" from forum members. "The go to guy in gambling can't make a living gambling." In subsequent posts Rob said of their meeting that the Wiz told him he was a "heavy gambler" and a "loser at video poker." And "if he could only leave video poker alone" he would be alright. The new owners "stole the site from him at a fire sale price." "He is not a professional gambler." "He could have a gambling problem." "He should get out of the gambling business pronto." And many more disparaging comments.

Now, like I said, I have avoided contact with Singer for years. He bashes every high profile AP he can. "Wong and Arnold are failed AP's." "Scott and Dancer support their gambling habits selling video poker products." "Dancer's marriage failed because of his gambling addiction." etc., etc., etc. And now it's Mike's turn in Singer's barrel. I felt I needed to jump in and defend the Wizard even though I would get slammed hard by Singer. I just couldn't let it go. So I joined the site and put in my 2 cents worth. And yes, I got slammed pretty hard by Singer. But I was willing to take the blows.

So then I have a few drinks and see a jackpot picture the Wiz put up on a 99.17% game. In my drunken convoluted mind I was like "Yikes! Singer couldn't possible be right could he?" I should have known Mike was getting extras. But when it came up 100.24%, well, I'm spoiled rotten. In my hardened AP mind I couldn't imagine playing an edge so thin. So I attemped to get Mike to raise his playable edge.

I started out with good intentions in defending the Wiz but wound up botching the whole thing up in typical booze hound style. My heart was in the right place anyway.

With all this being said I still wish the Wiz would up his playable video poker edge to .5%.

How should I play that one, Mickey? Play it safe? That's the way you always told me to play it: safe... play the percentage. Well, here we go: fast and loose. One ball, corner pocket. Yeah, percentage players die broke, too, don't they, Mickey?

Dancer grinds 99.65% DDB Quick Quads a lot at South Point on double point days (100.25% after points) for $60/hand. If one can afford it, and I hope the Wizard and Bob could at this point, why are these necessarily bad games to play mickey? Maybe Mike could have done better percentage wise doing something else, but would he be able to play 5-play dollars with a better promo? His expected hourly is still something I would love to have a real job.

Now if I was playing what the Wizard was playing (I have less than $10,000 to my name right now), then I would be a damn idiot and degenerate.

Really?

Do tell.

FWIW, Rob Singer is an entertaining sideshow attraction, nothing more.

If he gets under people's skin: well, they need to grow thicker skin.

He's a fop; why do you even care about him?

I think one thing Mickey might have missed is that the Wizard said he would get mailers (free play) of an unknown amount. Those mailers will make the edge larger than stated.

exactly. to some people mailers are quite valuable. not just the free play, but also the free hotel stay.
In order to get the mailers, you have to play enough, even at very thin edge or no edge.

That isn't his real name.

He chose it to spit in the eye of his foe, Bob Dancer.

"Rob Singer," "Bob Dancer;" get it?

mickey,

If what I wrote was a shot at AP's, I apologize to you and any others on here. Truly; I didn't mean it to be. It's been an education and in many ways a delight to learn from all of you.

As to my comment on the BV, I was trying to keep you out of trouble with a friendly word. Very little to do with the content, everything to do with the profanity and the possibly insulting language towards the Wizard (it would be up to him whether he was insulted or took it as your opinion, a bit boozed up, but you simply speaking your mind).

Carry on.
