I have $800 sitting there. it can be used for food (sucks) or slots/vp. (no table games)
they don't expire as long as I earn at least 1 point every 90days.
(I goto this casino at least twice a month.)
Best VP are:
$5 : 98.98% DDB
$5: 98.91% DW44
$5: 8/6 JoB 98.39%
Md Live opened in summer 2012.
i was waiting for special offers for a better points redemption rate like they do in the NYC casino (resorts world.)
a yr and a half later, it never materialized.
what to do with that $? (i think it's -EV to just let it sit there forever.)

At my local casino you earn points even why playing free play so if this is the case make sure you go during some kind of promotion.
sell it to me for a discount:) Make sure you discount it dramatically because according to some other members of the forum, its not even worth more then 400 bucksQuote: 100xOddsso I haven't redeemed any $ from my players card yet.

Bidding war? I go $500, I've got nine hours total drive time and I'm eating nearly $100 in fuel, a little bit to eat leaves me with an expected profit (after accounting for EV) of about $175 or $17.50/hour, approximately, because it will take me about an hour to play 640 hands.
Unless they have a certain other game good for Free Play. ;)
Quote: Mission146You should really just play it, though, 100x. The JoB is Low Variance and even if you have only played VP rarely, you'd still knock it out, playing optimally (cheat sheet) Max two hours.
so $5 JoB and not the $5 DDB?
thought I wanted higher variance with freeplay? or is that $800 not considered freeplay?
the casino also has $.50 8/5 JoB (97.3%).
It depends on what your goal is. if you want to get as close to the face value, Less variance is good.Quote: 100xOddsso $5 JoB and not the $5 DDB?

I think I know the confusion here -- For a match play, or other "one use only" coupon, you want high variance. It makes the coupon worth more.
But freeplay is not "one use only". You essentially get it back as cash when you win (this is because slots and VP are paid "for 1" not "to 1" basis.
For example, a bet that pays even money is "1 to 1" or "2 for 1". The first one means that you get a payout of 1 plus your original bet of 1 back; the 2nd one means that you get a payout of 2 but don't get your initial bet back. They are identical when you are betting cash.
But, since slots and VP pay "2 to 1" instead of "1 for 1", it doesn't matter that you don't get your initial bet back -- you don't get it back with cash either. You get your full payout of 2x your initial bet.
That's why freeplay is worth about 2x as much as one-use-only promo chips (assuming that they must be used for even-money bets)

Ick.
I'm only at around $10/hour after gas costs plus food and there are much less tedious ways to make that than driving nine hours. I could probably get $12/hour just to go waste time at the desk at our other hotel because they wouldn't be paying the normal person OT, don't know why they don't just hire another head over there.
I thought we were friends, StrictlyAP...j/k
Not worth my time.
Going twice!
Quote: strictlyAPMission I'm backing out I hear to many issues with Maryland so I'm going to pass it's all back to you at 500 but I would meet up with you there and buy you dinner- they do have wheel poker if you can catch a few slices already taken up
Really??
In Vegas when you cash out of wheel poker you can take some cash which (I think?) matches the EV of your slices. (Or, at least, it's some of the EV -- not sure of the details)

Aren't goals for "ploppys"?
Higher variance for free play is supposed to cost casinos more money because often it's too much to give back the same day, but you're planning on leaving anyways so I can understand playing it safe. It's a luxury opportunity to go swinging and you already have $800. Carpe diem.
Maybe tape the play and get dividends from advertising from people watching high stakes video poker. people will watch anything with big bets. Might not be popular, don't know.
md live changed the $5 vp machines in the high limits area. all but 2 machines are now multi-line progressives.
and only 1 of the remaining 2 machines had deuces wild. it was still dw44, but no more double up. :(
it was a letdown. should have played the 8/6 JoB but since I was looking forward to playing dw44 today, I played it.
$770 comps turned into $570 cash.
74% :(
nothing higher than 4 of a kind. in the 31 hands, the most deuces I saw at the initial deal was 1. :(
What's wrong with snow crab legs at the buffet, a nice prime rib/ surf and turf, seafood bake, or the atypical cheesecake?
Quote: AsswhoopermcdaddyHonestly, I'm surprised you said the food sucks. Although I have never been to Maryland Live, I looked up their website and they seem to have 4 respectable options. The Buffet, The Prime, Phillips Seafood, and Cheesecake Factory. I would eat 3/4 of it and gamble 1/4 of it on slots.

no card comps accepted for cheesecake factory or Prime Rib. (pit boss of table games can write you a voucher tho, but I don't play table games.)
Phillips seafood is waaay overpriced for what u get.
buffet is hit or miss. sometimes its too salty. others it too overcooked. and they cut back on quality
Quote: beachbumbabsWhat is the situation with de-programming all the double-ups, guys? Something to do with those mis-programmed machines back a few years?
At the Meadows near pittsburgh there was a group of people who learned that if there was a machine left on a win they could hit the double up button and get the win again. Is that what you are talking about? My mother worked with one of the guys involved. I am going to have to ask her tomorrow whatever happened to him.

I think it is, but my impression was that it was an isolated issue. Now I'm wondering if there's not a larger programming glitch they're concerned about? Or maybe they're tightening up so much they don't want to offer an even-money bet (assuming it ever was).

Well from what I can remember. The guy that was leading the group doing it around here was from Vegas. He had done the same thing in Vegas but left when they were starting to give him some heat. When they got arrested in Pittsburgh the guy that my mom works with supposedly was giving the FBI some info and the FBI office out of Vegas was also part of the investigation. The leader was eventually going to be charged in multiple states. I am going to look for the articles that were in the papers here.
It might just be a lets not take any chances type of thing, but who knows, if there was a industry wide VP glitch, do you think they would tell us? Can you imagine the panic and gold rush this would cause? They would have to rewrite the laws dealing with this exact issue.Quote: beachbumbabsI think it is, but my impression was that it was an isolated issue. They cant possibly get the information out to every place that may own a machine with a double up feature.
