I stayed at Golden Gate for 1 night back in August. I got some free stays there for November and December. That was the only place I got a player's card and played. I always enjoyed playing at Fremont. I'm going out to Vegas again midweek next month, and Fremont room is only like $35. Should I stay at Fremont paying $35 to get on their "list"?

So, my question is, any guess as to whether I got the Golden Gate mailer by playing there or by playing AND staying there? and if I make a player's card next time at Fremont without staying at their hotel, do you think I'd get mailers from them in the future?

I got the Golden Gate mailer and have never stayed there. Fremont is pretty generous with out-of-town mailers, at least with regards to rooms, so you should get stuff.

I've played the Freemont a little and alot more at Sams Town using same players card and I never get mailers from Boydgaming. I play alot at 4 Queens across the street and always get mailers from them for free rooms. I'm a low roller, bankroll about 500 a trip to lose. I wonder if its that I live in florida that I dont get mailers from Boyd, or my small play, or both.
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

Although "Play where you Stay" is oft trumpeted as a wise move, most places grant and then fine-tune their mailers based on your ACTION in the casinos. Sure things get busy and sometimes Floor Men just don't calculate averages correctly or just don't enter them correctly and there is always a lag between your visits and the fine-tuning of the mailers, but in general its your action not just the fact that you booked a room.

Action does not have to be high and some places really do seem willing to "invest" in certain types of players and disinclined to "invest" in others. So you can't just compare Trip Dates and Action and wonder why the results differ.

A Peoria address might indeed help but what can you do. Rent out mailboxes and pay forwarding fees all over the place?

If you live in Florida or in NY/NJ mailers tend to be less generous simply because they think you do your gambling where you live.

More and more casinos are requiring players cards to be "validated" ... ie insert player card and place drivers license on glass plate...the computers do their thing talking to each other and suddenly your card is now "validated". Casinos are less inclined to issue cards without positive iDs now.

Best thing I would say is to keep track of your action and if the mailers arrive but don't satisfy you... talk to them. You've got nothing to lose. Clarifying the amount of your action can help... if they indicate a renewed interest in you, fine. If they just politely yawn, well that's where you stand and you might as well go elsewhere.

Whoever breaks the code for how all this stuff works stands to make a fortune by sharing with the rest of us. I have a Boyd card and play 2 to 3 times a year at several Boyd properties, total coin in about 20k each trip. I stay at Ceasars / Rio. The mailers from Boyd properties come in every month for everything from weekday rooms to free tournament entry. I've always thought they were fairly generous. Go figure.

I can't figure it out either. I made Emerald (tier score of 500,000+), and now for some reason I am on their super-duper VIP list at Sam's Town. Tournament invitations out the wazoo, tickets to Cirque, drawings for cars, 5 free nights with unlimited comp "gold card" every month, free play, etc.

Yet I can't get a free room at the Fremont. $29.

Are you going to the book signing?

LOL! Sam's Town has some very unusual stuff going on. They gave me $25 free bets but somehow goofed the kiosk and I don't know, it's not worth the hassle to drive across town for me.

Nope. But next time I'm in town, dinner at T.G.I. Friday's is on me!

Wow, that's a bunch of points. I hover in the 10000 point range and have been platinum for several years. These corporations don't even make an effort to keep you in the building once they've got you. I stay at the Rio comped yet give Gold Coast 80% of my VP play or walk over to palms. I tell CET about it on the silly survey every trip but I guess it would just kill them to install a 9/6JOB machine at less than $5. Between sport book and 8/5 BP Rio gets enough action to insure a comp room next trip. Strange business.
