I've been to the strip probably 2 dozen times and I've never got a rental car. Walking the strip and going from casino to casino is part of the fun for me

I would say "agree to disagree" but I know you'll never agree to that :).

If you're short on money and time in Vegas,
you're not going to have a really good time
unless you're very easily entertained.

Safety is relative. If you are concerned you may telegraph that to the wrong people. If you are carrying a large sum of money get your mind off it. Patting your pocket reassuringly is a great boon to pickpockets. Stay within whatever levels are comfortable for you.

Cheapass people don't fare well in Vegas.
They're so concerned with squeezing every
dime till it screams, they miss the point that
time is the currency to a visitor, not money.
Time is what you have precious little of and
must use wisely. Walking anywhere takes too
much of it. That's why I always rent a car,
even a bus takes too long.

I am cheap but its not about squeezing every last dime. I choose to walk because I enjoy walking. I love getting the exercise.
I could make the 6 mile drive to work in my car but why. I certainly don't love driving my car to work.
I do love riding my bicycle to work. Its fun and its great exercise.
On my breaks at work, I go out and take a 15 min walk. I love it, enjoy it, clears my head and its great exercise.

I love walking the strip. Its fun and its great exercise. I'm 55, exercise is very important at my age. Actually crucial to good health.

Of course locals don't walk the strip, they don't live on the strip. Tourists live on the strip staying at a strip casino/hotel.
Locals step outside their house to take a walk, tourists step out of their hotels to take a walk. Its simply stepping outside of where you are living at the time to take a walk.
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

LOL! I love this excuse, it's what every cheapskate
I've known in the last 30 years has used. 'Yeah,
I'm cheap, but I walk in Vegas because I like it'.

No, they can walk ANYTIME at home. They can walk
their frigging butts off. They get to Vegas for
48 hours and they have to walk? Who are they kidding.
Nickles and dimes run their lives, if they won the
lottery they'd take a rider from the living room to
the kitchen. They walk in Vegas because a bus pass
costs 5 bucks. They play the penny slots a penny at
a time because the drinks are free. They clip coupons
till their fingers bleed because it might save them a
dollar two ninety eight.
