I have been getting lots of complaints about trolls and suggestions at how to get rid of them. May I remind everybody about the "flag post" feature. Every member starts out with 1 point, and gains an additional point every month, up to a maximum of 10.

Every time somebody flags a post it is tagged with the same number of points as the person flagging it. Once a post has 20 or more flagging points it is automatically busted. So it takes two long-standing members only to bust a post.

Please make use of that feature.

Thank you for explaining this, I had no idea how it worked beyond clicking "flag." I for one shall promise to use it wisely.

With great power comes great temptation to misuse it.

I'm a little upset I can't flag the Wizard's posts :)

How many points do we have? Is that the same as threads started, or as posts, or is it something else?

Edit: never mind, I'm a doofus who doesn't know how to read the entire explanation. Bust my post, please!

Not easily. I'll keep that idea in mind.

True. If I see that then I'll increase the number points required to bust a post.

I also did not realize that was how flagging worked. I thought it just sent some form of notification to the moderators so they could review it later. But that does explain why when I flagged the post of one frequent spammer the post disappeared...

I suspect we'll see a significant improvement in the forum now that more people are aware of how this feature works.

Each of us is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts. Preparing for a fight about your bad decision is not as smart as making a good decision.
