Mirage For Sale By Owner

The Mirage was just listed for sale. Built in 1989 that is 32 years old. Meaning it has the same relevance to today that the Stardust had to 1989 when it opened.

Question I always have is when will the first of this generation of casinos be imploded. Mirage is accepted as the first of the "new" casinos in Vegas, Is it "old" to they younger generations?

Property is no longer owned by MGM. They only manage or “own” the operations…which they are now selling. Caesar’s owns the property thru their REIT, which bought out the MGM REIT.

Lot of changes in Vegas. Not just ownership changes but the entire business model of owning a casino property and managing casino operations. Strange times.

Luxor is sinking. Supposedly a structural issue that has plagued the property for years. Eventually they will no longer be able to “maintain” it. If I had to guess, it would be the first to go.

I always hear that The Mirage is the first of the themed mega resorts on the strip. But what is Caesars Palace if not a themed mega resort.

I don't know what the definition of, "Themed Mega Resort," is supposed to be, but whatever it is, Circus Circus must also not have qualified even when it first opened.

I never heard that. I have heard it called the first "modern" resort. It was first "mega" when it opened but "mega" keeps getting defined up since 1946. Like Flamingo befoe it the place set a new standard. The place replacing the Stardust might set a newer standard leaving Mirage in the dust, though I figure it has 20-30 good years left.
