Hey guys, I am planning a solo trip to Vegas for the end of the month and was hoping to gain some insight on the comps situation.

I guess I should first recap my last trip to Vegas: I stayed at the Monte Carlo for three nights in March and signed up for MLife. During my stay, I played $25-$50 blackjack, $105 PGP, and $15 pass with 2 come bets (max odds) in craps for around 12 hours each day (with a few higher hands, I play a small positive progression); mostly at the Monte Carlo and a few hours at the Aria. During one of my morning PGP sessions, a host introduced himself to me. I never contacted him after the meeting. However, I stopped at the MLife desk before checking out where they made a phone call (presumably to the hosts' office) and comped a couple breakfasts and a steak dinner at the Monte Carlo (totaling ~$250). I was given a Pearl card at the time.

My question is this: how will my comps be effected if I spread my play around MGM casinos? I want to stay at the Mandalay Bay or MGM on my next trip so I would like to get better offers there. However, if I play at different casinos, will my comps for this trip from the host be lessened? Did he have anything to do with my comps in the first place? Should I reach out to him before my trip?

Next question: last trip, I was comped my meals at my home casino, Monte Carlo, but not drinks that I got at the pool in the Aria. Is it common to get better comps at the casino you are staying vs. other MGM casinos?

Another question: I'm a bit of a "foodie" (although I hate that term). Any suggestions for good solo meals at Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, or MGM?

Finally: I am thinking about writing a trip report for my trip since it is one of my favorite things to read on this forum. If there is enough interest, I will do it.

Thanks!

There are a lot of people who like to read trip reports.

Some of us put trip reports in our blogs, while others create a thread for their trip report.

If you are looking for commentary on your report, I would suggest using a thread, as it is much easier to have dialogue in a thread.

Your MLife card gets you recognized at a new property. They can see what your play has been like at other properties. That will help them with their first impression. But if you want offers at Mandalay Bay, there are only two ways to go about it.
1. On your next trip, you stay somewhere else, but go play heavily at MB. (As you have noticed, you will not get much in comps at a property you are not staying at.) You might be able to finagle a dinner, but not much beyond that.
2. You just book MB, at whatever rate you can get (DON'T USE an online agent like Priceline, etc. You have to book directly through the casino), and then hope your play is high enough to get your room comp'd.

The second choice is a gamble. If you have a bad run, you can bust out before you have played enough to get any attention. But, it will also earn you the most attention, if you are able to play for quite a bit. In my experience, your comp values will be highest at MB this way.

Final thought. You might find that earning perks at Monte Carlo is much easier than MB. In other words, the lower tier MGM properties tend to appreciate your play much more than the 'nicer' properties. Playing $100 a hand PGP will get you noticed at both places, but Monte Carlo may give you a nice dinner comp after 4 hours of play, while MB may offer you a BOGO buffet.

Best of luck at the tables.

I know at this point your trip is over and all of that, but ill share my little bit of insight on this. We stayed at the monte carlo when I went out to vegas last may for the supercross finals. I played quite a bit of roulette (bets ranged from min of $5 up to I think I had a couple 500+ bets out there throughout the weekend), and a bit of craps and blackjack as well. After probably the 2nd day I misplaced my players card. When I went back to the players club to get a replacement, they had bumped me up to the pearl card.

Fast forward to the past month or 2. I got a flyer in the mail from the Monte Carlo saying I have a free 3 nights (in a Monaco Suite) $100 a night in free food, and free tickets to a show, which I think may be skipped, or maybe Ill go watch blue man. When I went to book out my room, it also gave me offers for free rooms and stuff at other MGM properties. Ill have to figure out exactly what it gives me for the other properties, but I may go out again in December, since I am currently gonna be going out in about a week and a half.
DAMN YOU 2ND 12!!!

I stayed 3 nights in Spa Suite on MGM Grand, and played BJ /BJ Switch in 50-500 range. (mostly iin 100-200 range and 75-150 x2)
I also played a lot of craps with 15-50 bets on Pass, and a small session with single zero roulette where i think i had about $150 on table on average.
At 2nd day the BJS dealer offered me a free ticket for the Copperfield Show, and when i checked out they cut my total bill with 70%.
(I won about 7K in total, 1K of those on a short visit on Bellagio)
