Has anyone noticed the value of the offers they are getting, specifically free play, has dropped tremendously this year? I used to get 700 dollars free play and now I get 300 but I am actually gambling more than I ever have. (Over 1k ADT). Now, I do play video poker more than I used to so I can see taking a hit for that. But a 60% haircut doesn't make sense. I know CET is going through bankruptcy so they may be getting even cheaper with its offers. Anyone else notice any change?

Considering video poker can have a 90% smaller theo loss than a slot machine, consider yourself lucky that you are only losing 60% of your free play.

Not a reduction in free play, but I have noticed a marked difference in travel offers. I used to get deeply discounted or free offers from Total Rewards Air (Air Fare + Room) every month or two. I haven't seen one at all in the last 8-10 months.

The funny thing about that is I used to get them all the time. Then I didn't get them for years. In the last 6 months I have received 1 a month. Actually the only offer I have in my TR account right now is airfare and 3 nights to AC.

Sorry to tell you it has more to do with your theoretical, I'd speak with the supervisors about how you are being rated each session. I just got back from Tahoe; airfare paid in full, $2500 park place jewelry promo, and $1400 free play. I am heading back next month to use my spring promo chip of $2650, $750 nordstrom/sw gift card and another $750 free play. Offers are just as strong and this is coming from one of the casino's on the chopping block (Harrahs Tahoe)

I love Lake Tahoe and I sure hope CET Harrah's and Harvey's both stay! I get really nice offers from them too - much better than my local CET.
When we were there in February - we asked host about Video Poker versus slots and they had us do an experiment. My DH played video poker (he plays fast) on the same machine for two hours playing single line $1.25 to $2.50 per hand.

I played at Harrah's - $1 slot - two credits at a time (about 2-3 different machines) for the same time period. At the end they said the ADT at Harvey's on VP was 200 and at Harrah's on slots - it was 1000.

ADT is Average Daily Theoretical (loss). Basically how much they expect you to lose per visit. Well, technically it's how much you've expected to lose (average) of previous visits. But they use that figure for offers. This is strictly how much you should lose. Does not include free play you've redeemed, food, rooms, etc.

Never heard of MVT I don't think. There's another factor, like Market Daily Value or something along those lines. Maybe that's what he means. Basically, this is everything non-gambling but casino/resort related. Maybe you redeemed $100 food voucher -- that hurts your MDV (but doesn't hurt your ADT). Or you asked for a comped room. That'll hurt you some more.

Edit: oh never mind I'm retarded

I have a more unrefined approach to determining my comps. For example many of these current BIG offers I'm receiving from Tahoe are based on my trip in late August. My average buy in was 10k; 300-500 per bet craps) and at least 2 hours per session. I was up 13k during the trip and always kept it in play, ended up leaving 6k up. This is the important factor for anyone reading...I stayed away from Tahoe for months. It wasn't hard as I live on the east coast but a lot of players feel like they have to keep coming back, the built in problem is that if your play doesn't equal or exceed your BIG play trip it will drop your averages and in effect your comps. Being that they have 6 month averages to determine your comps it bumped my comps up considerably and they will stay big until the next review.

Interesting - did your host tell you that your comps are based on a six month average or is that common knowledge that I have missed out on?

It's not just them. All places are tweaking their comp systems. Lot of more competition elsewhere. So revenue is shifting. When a local place starts offering better comps, you'd wish Vegas would take notice and give back more. Casino's in Vegas seem to be trying to switch to a more services based model. Eat at our restaurants, spend on spa services, and ring up a bar tab. Buy stuff from our overpriced stores, and we'll give you more credits than straight up low limit gambling.

High limit gambling is just in a different league.

Yeah a few hosts have told me that on occasion whether they should have or not lol. Actually when I discovered this it was in regards to a time when I felt like my comps didn't compare to my action and I was told that my comps were based on 6 month projections, that they would fluctuate until they are caught up. Essentially I was told that the offers I receive at the beginning of a cycle represent the last 6 month average; for discussion based on my dominant property where I frequent the most. So if my play gets stronger it will take a while for it to reflect in my comps but they will increase just not right away.
