ive had shares of royals before but never actually hit a royal on my own until last night. ive run far below expected in that department. i estimate ive played about 250k hands of video poker lifetime. i was playing 100.15% payback Loose Deuces at Palace Station when i finally hit one while getting dealt 4 to a royal in hearts. unfortunately it was only on a 5c denomination machine.

It's a shame it was on a 5c, but I'm sure it felt good at the same time.

I've hit royals only three times, but...

One was at GLI when I was playing randomly while testing a game. I held only an ace.

Another at GLI was on a 10 play, so that only somewhat counts. I held 3 to a royal.

The latest was on Bovada practice mode. I started with a bankroll of $2000, I think. I was playing a $5 paytable and hit a $20,000 royal. I would never have had the huevos to play that game with my own money. Was dealt 4 to a royal.
I heart Crystal Math.

Not to jinx myself, but I've lost count exactly how many Royals I've hit. I hit two in Vegas within two days (one at Palms, one at Casino Royale) in Feb. 2010, then went on a drought until last October, when I hit one (on .50 nonetheless) at Horseshoe Southern Indiana.

My first was at Harrah's East Chicago, and I've hit 2 at Resorts Tunica, 2 (or 3) at Sheraton Tunica (now Roadhouse), and 1 at Harrah's Joliet.

So that's 9 (or 10), but I feel like I'm missing one. I'm seriously racking my brain on this one.

However, I've only hit one myself on Pai Gow Poker, and recently one on Ultimate Texas Hold Em. I've had one on live poker during a tournament, holding both cards on that one.

LOL, funny as it may be...I was playing PGP once and the DEALER made a Royal Flush! and I was the only one at the table!!
On vP however, I have hit I think around 40-50 (5c, 10c, 25c, and now just ONE 50c)

I had the exact same thing happen to me on a Pai Gow Mania table in Harrah's St Louis. I was by myself, dealer made a Royal Flush (and the first three cards would have been a straight flush).

I've been on the table twice when Five Aces hit, and three or four times when a Royal hit. One time, I was teaching a friend the game, his first time gets a Royal. Coincidentally, the dealer, who dealt the game 4 times a week, for 10 years, had never dealt one before.

I hit one myself at Harrah's Rincon on Thursday. Was down to my last $50 from a brutal Baccarat session and hit one at a quarter bartop game (believe it or not the best game in the house is a bartop machine, 8/5 BP). I went on to light up the Baccarat table for another $600.

I had only hit one royal about three years ago at Ameristar Council Bluffs. I had almost given up hope, but now I have hit three royals in three consecutive weekends, all on quarter machines, $1,000 each. Interestingly, one of them was at Argosy in KC, where I hit four of a kind in consecutive hands on a $1 machine, one for $250 then $400 on the very next hand.

I dont have much luck with royal flushes in video poker. In January I got a royal after playing 170-thosuand hands without one.

My "funny story" comes from a nightly poker tourney at Caesars about a year ago. In the same evening tournament, I had TWO royals and Quad Aces... and finished second.

When we were heads up at the final table I had the other guy outchipped by 4 to 1 and I offered him an even chop. Repeat: even chop. He said "no. I came here from West Virginia and I want to win this."

The tournament ended at 7:30 the next morning.

as far as video poker goes, my claim to fame is a dealt royal on a 50-play machine, 5-cents per coin. This was at Mandalay Bay. It took them nearly 90 minutes to pay me because the casino manager called in a tech crew to rip the machine apart because she said "no nickel video poker machine pays ten thousand dollars."

It was a long drawn out affair too... firs tthe floor person, then a supervisor, then the slot manager, then the shift manager, then the casino manager... and then the techs came.

Finally the lead tech says to the manager (a young woman who probably never played VP in her life) "he was dealt a royal, that's $200. Times 50 is $10,000. Pay him the money." really, he said to her "pay him the money."

it was the first time I ever tipped the techs (three of them) who spent about fifteen minutes doing heaven knows what on that machine.

congrats rudeboyoi! i just got back from vegas and hit one too. unfortunately on nickles also, but it still feels good when it just pops up! better than a poke in the eye. got dueces four times, twice on nickles, once on quarters and once on .50. i also got a picture of dealt aces on bonus in my phone camera but i can't remember where i got that. maybe later i'll post some interesting experiences on my trip as i can remember them.

Congrats! I just got back from Vegas and since I started playing VP much more frequently in the last three years I have never hit a royal( I never hit one beforehand either). I got to 4 to a royal twice and hit a straight flush this past trip, but have never hit a royal anywhere.

thanks for the congrats guys. the reason id always play deuces wild is cause i could never seem to hit a royal but i hit more than my fair share of 4 deuces. i got pretty lucky in video poker again today. i hit 4 deuces for $625 on 25cent Loose Deuces and 5 aces for 1600 nickels in double deuces wild bonus poker (10nickels/hand). it only took about 20hands to hit the 4 deuces too. i also hit 4 deuces for $600 the other day too on Triple Deuces Wild (20nickels/hand).

I'm still an official member of the 'never hit royal' club...at least not when playing for real money.

I have however hit 2 5ofK playing Joker poker...AC rules, which also pays $1000 on quarter machines. One of them was a 5 aces on a progressive which payed a cool $2940 at the time ($1.25 bet).

Since that big hit I haven't had another big jackpot...going on 2 years now. I am way overdue to hit my first royal....
