With only 32 tiles, and fact that they are shuffled on the table in front of all the players, I suspect it would be possible to "track" key tiles; if not into your own hand, maybe just knowing that the dealer's hand will not have them. What do you think? Is there a possibility of raising a player's edge?

Yes, and several techniques are used. Here's a link about pre-marked "reader tiles", tiles specifically manufactured to be used in cheating:

Other marking techniques are known, but no, I'm not going to teach you how to do it. :)

Since the dice determine where the tiles go to, I find it hard to gain a huge advantage in terms of where to sit to get the best stack, I think at best you would just have an idea of what the dealer has, that in itself does present some opportunity, but I dont think it would make a huge difference in the way you would set your hand anyway.

That would require an awful lot of concentration and I doubt anyone can do that consistently. You'd really need to know where the 2 teen and 2 day tiles are to really have an advantage and I seriously doubt anyone can do that without marking.

Thanks all for the input. I wonder what happens to "worn" tiles? Could you ask for a set from the pit boss, like a deck of cards?

I've tried to get tiles and have been unsuccessful, so far. I did buy a set on eBay. However, the dealers practice with a deck of cards with pictures of the tiles on the cards. The pit boss gave me one of the decks.
