Hello. Just a quick question, what is the significance of 5-6 suited being the lowest suited hand to open with?

I would assume because you can make a straight flush on either side with the three community cards, but still have the 6 in case of a push

That was pretty much my line of thinking. My previous strategy was to open with ANY suited two, but I can easily see how a hand like 8 4 suited could just be a trap. 6-7 is a snap keep anyway, suited or not, but the practice of keeping anything lower than a 6 throws me off a bit. Perhaps it's that, from an odds perspective, a suited 5 plays more like a mid card than a low, since outs increase slightly toward a flush AND a straight.

6 is the lowest middle pair qualifier. Thus, 45s is significantly worse than 56 suited. Both make the same number of straights.

Makes sense. Thank you.

Suited card are the real house edge in this game for casinos, I think. Pay attention to what other people are playing and you will see so many people chasing those low straights and flushes. The house loves this stuff!

You will definitely fold some potential flushes and straights in the game, you have to accept that. (Not to mention those amazing 2-5 Full Houses that make you frown). Just keep to the strategy to maximize your time at the table.
