Does anyone know how many games were field trialed as the result of the showcase and what are they? How many survived today? This showcase is coming soon.Quote: Mr. Casino GamesGROSVENOR G CASINO COVENTRY HOSTS INDUSTRY’S 2012 TABLE GAMING SHOW
May 2012
Leading casino brand, Grosvenor Casinos, is holding an exclusive Table Gaming Showcase, for selected customers and employees, at Grosvenor G Casino Coventry on Thursday 10th May.
I (Mr Casino Games) will be showing 7 New Table Games, Will Post how I get on here.
In its second year, after a successful debut in 2011, The Table Gaming Show will exhibit the very latest in table games to hit the industry. From 8.00pm to midnight, Grosvenor G Casino Coventry will showcase the most state-of-the-art games, including roulette and poker based games, from big name suppliers such as ShuffleMaster, TSC John Huxley, Customised Casino Games Ltd, Mr Casino Games, Galaxy Games and ICS-Europe.
The exclusive evening will be open to 100 employees and customers demonstrating Grosvenor Casinos’ continued leadership at the forefront of the gaming industry. Guests will be invited to experience and trial the games, offering feedback to determine the most popular of the new concepts. Those that receive a positive response have the potential to make it to the gaming floor across the 36-strong Grosvenor Casinos estate.
Kevin Grahame, Head of Table Gaming at Grosvenor Casinos comments: “After such enthusiastic feedback from our customers and employees last year, we're delighted to be bringing back the hugely successful Table Gaming Show in 2012.
“We pride ourselves on listening to the feedback and needs of our customers, and the show is testament to that. It is the perfect opportunity for us to continue to develop our casino offering directly in line with the needs and demands of our customers who are our most important stakeholders.
“We build strong relationships with new suppliers and are pleased that so many are unveiling their latest innovations at this event, helping to make Grosvenor Casinos the number one for advanced gaming whilst bolstering our product portfolio.”

I'm not sure what happened to the other games that received positive reviews from the Showcase. The UK has got limited floor space so that doesn't help.
Next Showcase is back in Coventry on May 16th.
Quote: BuzzardOOOPS I will be 73 on May 16. Hope that's not a bad omen LOL
Hopefully that's the number of tables I will have out by then :-)

Quote: UCivanHow many tables an average sized casino in UK has?
Roulette is the most popular game so I would say that, on average, a medium-sized casino would have 6 roulette tables, 3 Blackjack tables and 1 or 2 3CP tables, or another poker variation.
They are also limited to having a maximum of 20 slot machines.

The gov't is strong in the UK...lol And this sounds tiny overall. Are there several casinos in a single larger city?

If you hit 16 by then, will you reimburse me the $5 Josie lost in a demo slot machine at G2E ?
Quote: tringlomaneThe gov't is strong in the UK...lol And this sounds tiny overall. Are there several casinos in a single larger city?
Yes, in Birmingham, which is near me, there are 5 casinos all within a 3 mile radius of each other.
Absolutely agree. For those who may not know until recently casinos were only allowed to open in certain towns (areas) and licences hard to get. The rules have changed slightly, so there are a few larger casinos appearing, but nowhere near Las Vegas size. So I'd estimate most have between 8-16 tables - the smallest I saw was on the Isle Of Wight - but it's closed now. A few newer ones, like Aspers in Stratford, London, are opening under the new rules, so are larger (and allowed more fruit machines). The most recent new one I went to (opened last week in Reading) was perhaps 16 tables.Quote: SwitchRoulette is the most popular...a medium-sized casino would have 6 roulette tables, 3 Blackjack tables and 1 or 2 3CP tables, or another poker variation....
There's a list of possible new areas (http://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/gambling_sectors/casinos/getting_a_licence_what_you_ne/applying_for_a_licence_-_casin/apply_for_a_premises_licence.aspx) and I've heard that Milton Keynes is getting one soon.
As you say I stumbled across XXPoker in Stockton, and it seemed to be doing quite well.
Thanks for the info on the showcase - I've put it in my diary - so hopefully can make it and meet everyone. Some of the one-off games I saw left over from last year was (i) 2-Up (Australian coin game) (ii) Roulette Dice (I also saw it in Leeds once) (iii) Racing game (nice table but high house edge, and wasn't open when I went there).
PS I think there are six in Birmingham - Two up Hagley Road (Rainbow, Mint) - Two near Five Ways (G, Broadway) - Two in China Town (Gala ex Stakis, Genting ex China Palace) - or has one of those closed down. I also don't know whether Star City counts as Birmingham or a different area.
It's probably fair to say: it's even harder (and more expensive) for a new table game to get approved in UK, right?Quote: charliepatrickAbsolutely agree. No it's probably easier now. From my understanding (and it's not so clear these days) the authorities now formally no longer have to approve the games (but I think they get involved in the process and only maintain a list of games that are NOT approved/allowed). A casino has to sponsor the game and the details, house edge/rules, put on http://www.ukcasinotablegames.info/ and easily available to players at the casino (usually pamphlets).Quote: UCivanIt's probably fair to say: it's even harder (and more expensive) for a new table game to get approved in UK, right?
As mentioned, some towns/cities have multiple casinos. One casino chain now even allow their local managers the choice to put their own choice of games in - this gives them a unique selling point over the other local ones and is why you are seeing some of the new games that are party in nature being given a try. Many have now disappeared or only in a few locations, but several, like Switch, have stuck and then spread from the original test-bed to other casinos.

Grosvenor then collate this information and any games that have positive reviews are given the go ahead to be trialed in one of their locations.
One of the fun things I find about FreeBet is that it's correct to split 4s vs A, when you know normally it is one of the worst things you can do. Similarly doubling 9 vs A and winning is great when it pays off (mathematically because you're being offered 2 to 1 for low but >33%+ chance). So, in that instance, using intuition and not knowing correct strategy (although one now knows to grab all free bets) one would miss out on some enjoyable moments.
My new game 'Zappit' has a very simple strategy on how to play the feature although you will still need to play perfect 'Push 22' strategy to benefit fully.
'Free Bet' is another example of a game where the strategy of the feature itself is quite straightforward - 'Zappit' is similar in that way.
You are in luck. Stephen just posted an "intuitive strategy" for Blackjack Switch www.discountgambling.netQuote: charliepatrickMany thanks (although I've yet to fully calculate Switch strategy, I gave in after creating 5 pages of rules).

I've just read it and it's a very thorough and well thought out article.

Geoff,
Is it possible you get me entry to the showcase on May 16th? I would be most appreciative.
Cheers,

Hi Dave,
Is it Grosvenor that you work at in Walsall ? If so then you should be able to just turn up as the event is still open for members of the Coventry casino to look around. You can walk in with me if you want or at least hang around my table at the start so that you can join in.
I'm taking 2 guests but have already okay-ed them with Grosvenor. As long as you don't work for another group then I can always ask to add you to the guest list if you prefer.
Is this asking to be a "vendor" or a"guest"? A "guest" need be invited?Quote: THESWEENEYGeoff,

The showcase kick off at 7pm tonight.
I and Geoff Hall will be there at 6pm.
See you there.

Steve, I think that the actual event for guests and visitors starts at 8pm. At 7pm we have a general gathering of exhibitors to discuss the nights format.

I would say the same for Renegade Games and Players choice 21, but they placed at Raving and may have generated a US placement out of that result.
Was there any voting or ranking at this event or just an expo format where one could exhibit their games?
Yes there were forms where you rated the games - though personally I found the four choices too granular, so most got a "good" from me.
As you've mentioned Match'Em Hi Lo - you get three cards. They score A=1/11 2-10=2-10 JQK=0 (note 10=10!). The dealer will eventually get five cards, put them in numerical order (they were some exceptions which I didn't try to understand, with three pictures, Aces?) so the lowest three give a low score and the highest three give a high score (the middle card is common). Ace in the lowest scores 1, in the highest scores 11.
You choose whether your hand will tie or win Low or High (and may double your bet as well). If you choose correct you win evens, else lose. The edge is that hands in the middle have little chance of winning while hands with low or high totals can be doubled.
(1) The host of this showcase invited everyone from Raving's show to go there. Overall, it was cheaper to go to UK, than having a table at Ravings.Quote: ParadigmI would say the same for Renegade Games and Players choice 21, but they placed at Raving and may have generated a US placement out of that result.
(2) Besides High Card Flush, I doubt any other games have a placement in USA. May be the developers could tell us?
(3) Raving's show is not an industry powerhouse yet. It's been mentioned more often by Galaxy Gaming than others, just because GG has won the (Ravings) Best Table Game in 2012.

I have a casino in Vegas that has asked to field trial 'Zappit'.
Congratulations and good luck, Switch. I was referring to that in Raving's show besides HCF, nothing has made to the casinos floors. I could be very wrong about this.Quote: UCivan(1) The host of this showcase invited everyone from Raving's show to go there. Overall, it was cheaper to go to UK, than having a table at Ravings.
