It is played like regular pai gow poker, including the option to bet on the high or low hand individually. Here is a preview of my new Hi-Low Pai Gow Poker page. Before I make links to it (other than this one), I welcome comments, questions, and corrections. It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet. |

I enjoy playing for the rare times when I feel 'my way' is better than house ways. If you are betting all 3, then you basically are just betting to beat the dealer like you would on regular pai gow, but paying commission more frequently (if you push, i.e. win one, lose one, thus also tieing the main bet, you would pay one commission). As much as I love pai gow (cards and tiles) I do not think this would add to my enjoyment. Perhaps banking against weak players may lead to a positive EV, but you could say the same with regular pai gow. Your link is clear, easy to understand, and thorough. |

While reading the preview, I thought of an entire new strategy, and it might be a player advantage. Only bet the high hand. This way, you can take the two worst cards for the low. No more concerns about splitting two pairs, or breaking up trip aces, etc. But since the dealer WILL be doing those things, the odds of winning the high go up. Is it enough to be an advantage game? Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown.
But how much does it cost to knock on wood? |

The idea behind the game is that if the player gets bored with too many pushes he has two other options to bet that resolve every hand. Plus, I think the owner would say that the game can no harm. If you want to play the regular way, go ahead, and bet on Both. It just gives the players more choices. It's not whether you win or lose; it's whether or not you had a good bet. |

If the rules are: "If the player bets any unequal amounts on the High Hand and Low Hand wagers, then the player must set his hand by the house way", you wouldn't be able to set the 2 worst cards for the low; you'd have to use the house way because your bets would be unequal. |
