Online games have a bet selection ($1, $5, $25, $100 etc.)
Bet can be shown like chips- for table games or display numeric denominations (slots, Video Poker)
. I would like to add "ZERO value" chips or ZERO bet denomination to all games for free play or learning curve purposes.
$0, $1, $5, $25, $100 etc.
Does it make sense?
PLayer can see missing opportunities by playing zero value games and bet for real value at any time without switching Free / REAL mode.
Need your technical and business opinion
I’d rather have to be a lucky player than good one.

The obvious problem is, how does it display a winning bet, since the return will also be zero? It's not feasible to just show a stack of zero-bet chips; what happens if you bet 10 of them on a number in roulette and it wins?

Zero chips? Like others have said, a player would have no idea how much they would have won.

You’re better off having a second set of chips with denominations and the phrase “No Value”. You’d probably want an option in the settings rather than having both sets be in action simultaneously.

Or do like most online places do, and have a separate site/app for free play.

Maybe OP has a betting system and wants to go from zero bets to larger bets and back again very quickly. It can take up to a minute to switch between "Demo Play" and "Play Real Money" on many online sites. This delay might cause a brilliant sure-fire betting system to fail in practice.
This forum is more enjoyable after I learned how to use the 'Block this user' button.

Keno or Lotto games show HITS/ PAYS on paytable
Player can pick game numbers, but bet ZERO with no chips, just set ZERO on the bet display
WIN=0 , but number of HITS to show missed opportunities at the round end.

Yes, but with keno machines, you're only making one bet, and it's showing you the results. You can't really compare that to using chips in a table game, since you're not going to be shown the individual results of each of your bets.

Sadly, what you propose does not seem like it would be of interest to any of the video keno players I have observed.
They seem to load up cash, pick their lucky numbers, and blast away on turbo mode until they hit a winner.
I think they would be kicking themselves if their dog's veterinarian's mother-in-law's street address + birthday + anniversary + license plate hit when they inadvertently weren't playing for cash.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Adding a "ZERO value" chip or denomination for free play or learning purposes could be a useful feature for players who want to practice their strategy without risking real money. It could also be helpful for those who want to test out different bet sizes before committing to a real money wager. From a technical standpoint, it would likely be a straightforward addition to the user interface, and wouldn't require significant changes to the game's underlying mechanics.

However, from a business perspective, it's worth considering the potential impact on revenue. If players can easily switch between zero-value and real-money bets, they may be more likely to spend time playing for free, which could lead to a decrease in revenue. On the other hand, offering a feature like this could attract more players to the platform, as it provides an additional level of flexibility and may make the games more accessible to a wider audience.

Ultimately, it's a decision that would need to be weighed carefully, considering both the potential benefits and drawbacks. A/B testing or surveys could be conducted to gather more data on player preferences and behavior before implementing the feature.
