Is surrender gone the way of the dodo or has it been modded to "any hard 16, anytime", or something else easy to remember?

I don't know what you mean. Has surrender been voided at the 6:5 tables? I don't know. I surrender against a 9, 10, Ace with a 16 or against a 10 with a 15.

I'm not sure I understand the question, but surrendering 16 vs. 10 is where most of the benefit comes from. Of course, there other situations where you also should.

If you're asking if it is still allowed, some tables do, but they are in the minority. It is normal to see it offered in six-deck games in high limit rooms. Seldom to you see players invoke the option when they should.

I meant it as 'does it still exist' or has the rule been changed. I have played quite a bit in CT/NY, but not NV since the late 80's.

There was a discussion of sorts in CT some yers ago b/4 H17. It was thought tht surrendering 'any hard 16, any number of cards' only, might induce players to use it TOO OFTEN. Now, with H17, it might make a comeback due to some in-the-know people using it with 88 vs A, and hard 15 & 17 vs Ace. This would reduce the usage, but might subtract from the HA.

whatever, and thanks.

Most online sites offer a version of electronic BJ with surrender in my state. This is usually coupled with H17 to offset the favorable rule. I don't recall ever seeing surrender in a live dealer online game.

DK Bingo Blackjack offers surrender, but it is a big mistake to take it when the Bingo target is 15 or 16 and your total is the same.

Surrender is common on the main floor at strip properties but you might not like the minimum for 3:2 games. Take a look at the blackjack survey at vegasadvantage.com. They have a pretty good rundown of rules and minimums for all of the major properties.

Play enough Blackjack and you'll see PLENTY of questionable Surrenders.

12 vs Dealer 7 Surrender! Next card an 8 dealer had 17...

Soft 15 vs Dealer 8 Surrender! Next Card 4, dealer had 18...

11 Vs Dealer Face Card Surrender! Next Card, well you can pretty much guess! And the dealer had 14 and busted... Lol!

"You have six."

"... or sixteen!"

"... or six."

May the cards fall in your favor.
