All the simulations i've found have been for 6 deck games with payouts as follows:

QH pair w/ dealer bj - 1000:1
QH pair - 125:1
matched 20 - 19:1
suited 20 - 9:1
any 20 - 4:1

but the casino I play at (Sugarhouse in PA) runs 8 deck shoes with double deck odds

1000:1
200:1
25:1
10:1
4:1

what i've found is that in 6 deck games using Hi/Lo you should start playing at TC+7
could anyone figure out when to do it using Hi/Lo with these rules? would it be the same?

1. For the longest time, Galaxy Gaming showed the math to LL on their website, but it's not there anymore.

2. If are a green-chip member of bj21.com, you could search hrough their archives. My memory escape me now, but I think someone with the handle Pamama Rick did some really good work on attacking LL. That was a really, really old post.

Good luck.

I've seen this article and the one at APheat. Neither of them show what I'm asking.

So, you are looking for a "formula answer?" When this, do that?

This is a very weak opportunity for the AP. I would not recommend any casino defense to this version of the Lucky Ladies side bet beyond those already in place for ordinary card counting.

Using Hi-Lo, 8-deck shoe, paytable (200/25/10), cut card at 338, 100M shoes simulated.

Baseline H/A = 16.73%
Target true count: +4
Hands per shoe with edge: 2.98
Percent of hands with edge: 4.65%
Average edge: 7.60%
Units won per shoe: 0.226
Units won per 100 hands: 0.353

I played the 8-deck game in AC a long time ago and it sucked. My point is an 8 deck game with this side bet gets the game from sucketh to less sucketh. Sometimes, the marginal 0.226 unit win per shoe makes the game playable. 0.353 maginal unit win per 100 hands is better than nothing -- think of it like picking up nickels and dimes, pretty soon you get that extra buck that you were looking for.

I just remember the old rule of thumb for a hi-lo counter, which was to push the side bet out at TC of +6.
