What is the best counting system to use under these blackjack rules?

Number of decks: 1
Dealer hits soft 17
Can double on any first two cards
Can split up to 4 times
Can re-split aces
Only one card after split aces
Double after splitting allowed
Blackjack pays 6 to 5
Deck penetration: 50%
Late surrender available

I know that counting methods are usually based on preference, but I can't help but think there is a method more efficient than Hi-Lo given these rules and face down. Any ideas?

Run some simulations, calculate the EORs, and build your own counting system.

If you can't do that, use Hi-Lo.

EDIT: Also, don't play that game. BOO 6:5.

Blackjack pays 6 to 5

QFIT has blackjack software where you can run simulations. It might do what you want.
You might be able to even find some data at the website.

But you mentioned 6:5

Do not ALL the experts say not to play that game.

I am not a Blackjack expert, do not enjoy the game, many others may tell you the same thing.

The house edge on that game is over 1.5% and the penetration is terrible. I would avoid it like the plague. If you must play this game, always take even money if they allow it. I'm guessing they won't.

Go to QFIT.com to see summaries of several card counting strategies.

I wouldn't go near it if BJ was 7:5 let alone 6:5

The best counting system for those particular rules would be to count yourself out. 1BB pointed you in a good direction.
