Hi everyone,

I'm thrilled to announce the launch of my latest project: an android basic strategy app called Blackjack Ace. I'm hoping some of you may find this app useful.

Key Features:

Table Rules: There is a pretty wide set of table rules that can be customized, allowing for all the common rule variations for both American and European blackjack.

Strategy Chart: The strategy chart is customized according to the table rules you select.

Accuracy Chart: Detailed statistics are kept, so you can see where your game needs improvement.

Hand Customization: You can select which types of hand you would like to be dealt, so you can focus your practice exactly where you need it most.

Practice Mode: You are shown a hand. You must choose whether to Hit, Stand, Double, Split, or Surrender. The app will immediately provide you with feedback (whether you selected correctly, what that correct move would have been otherwise, and the relevant strategy rule) and move onto the next hand.

Play Mode: Try out your newfound skills in full games of blackjack.

But here's where I need your help! As much as I've put into this app, I know there's always room for improvement. Your feedback is invaluable in helping me make this app even better. My goal is for this to be the best blackjack strategy app for android. Whether you love it, have suggestions for improvement, or encounter any issues, I want to hear from you!

How You Can Help:

Download and Try It Out: Head over to the Google Play Store and give the app a download. It's completely free!

Test It: Put the app through its paces. Try out different settings, play some hands, and see how it feels.

Share Your Thoughts: Once you've had a chance to explore the app, come back here and let me know what you think. Your feedback will shape the future of this project!

I'm incredibly excited to share this app with all of you, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts. Thank you in advance for your support and feedback!

To find it, please search for "Blackjack Ace - Basic Strategy" in the play store.

Welcome to the forum. And good luck! Question…. Since there are a gazillion more IPhones than Androids why is this just for Android? Seems backwards…

If you ask me, the most likely answer is, tymorris404 doesn't have the one key piece of equipment you need to make an iOS app - a Macintosh computer.

It can be developed on a PC, using, say, Maui or Xamarin, but you can't upload it to Apple's App Store until it's compiled to run on iOSes - and as far as I know, you can't do that with a PC.

Uhh, wad? Yowza. Nice to know the world can always continue to rely on such consistent accuracy from highly esteemed members of the WoV social club. Truly, it is widely known as a distinguishing feature of the DISCUSSION FORUM SIDE (only) of this site, as most folks soon find that it really is a remarkably consistent quality within the little inner sanctum here.
Quote: Counterpoint Research Quarterly - SMARTPHONES Q4 2023 (11/23/23)

Android is the clear leader with a market share of 81% in Q3 2023. iOS has a market share of 16%. Showing promising growth, Huawei's HarmonyOS has captured a 3% share.

That's globally; exclusively USA numbers were closer to about half & half, last time I looked.

To the OP/app-creator, I have no expertise and play BJ infrequently enough that I forget what I'm "supposed" to do, but I find your project description very interesting and will search for & download it on a few of my gazillion android gizmos. Maybe my sketchy knowlege of the game makes it particularly appealing to me as I only occasionally sit down at a BJ machine to burn off some comp-freeplay points or have some kind of table game promo to use up.

Yowza! That is frankly stunning to me! I’m wondering why it is in my social circle that IPhones exceed Androids by a large multiple? Only 1 company makes IPhones but there are multiple (well over a THOUSAND) manufacturers of Androids. I see you say it’s 50-50 in the USA. My question is thus valid, even if my statement of numbers of IPhones/Androids was off. If I’m making an App, I’d try my hardest to make it work on both platforms.

You have a lot of competition. I assume "MoPo Software" is you? When I searched Google Play Store for "Blackjack Ace - Basic Strategy" it was the 4th item & the one with the most precisely matched name when scrolling down the long list, and the only one labelled "New." It downloaded and opened easily on one of my droid phones, and at least didn't yet try to hit me up for $ or hint that it would soon do so for continuing with a more real version.

That's a fair question. For now, it's because I had to start somewhere. I use an Android phone myself, so it seemed like the logical place to start. If this gains any traction, I can definitely look into creating an iOS version.

I do, that is true. I'm hoping I can make something with high enough quality that it will stand out among all the other options. Right now, it's not really that visible in the play store search unless you search with the exact name, which is why I'm trying to spread the word in forums like this one. I'm told that google can take a while to index new apps though, so I'm hoping it becomes more visible as time goes on.

Thank you for giving the app a try!

Inside the casino they don't care if someone uses a small paper or plastic chart to help with basic strategy. At worst, some pit bosses might ask a player to keep the chart off the table.

Someone could even have a little piece of paper with

1. Take insurance whenever TC > 3.
2. Double 9 vs. 2 whenever TC > 1, otherwise hit.
3. Double 9 vs. 7 whenever TC > 4, otherwise hit.
4. Double 10 vs. A whenever TC > 4, otherwise hit.
5. Double 10 vs. T whenever TC > 4, otherwise hit.
6. Double 11 vs. A whenever TC > 2, otherwise hit.
7. Stand on 12 vs. 2 whenever TC > 4, otherwise hit.
8. Stand on 12 vs. 3 whenever TC > 2, otherwise hit.
9. Stand on 12 vs. 4 whenever TC > 0, otherwise hit.
10. Stand on 12 vs. 5 whenever TC > -1, otherwise hit.
11. Stand on 12 vs. 6 wheneverTC > -1, otherwise hit.
12. Stand on 13 vs. 2 whenever TC > 0, otherwise hit.
13. Stand on 13 vs. 3 whenever TC > -2, otherwise hit.
14. Stand on 15 vs. T whenever TC > 5, otherwise hit.
15. Stand on 16 vs. 9 whenever TC > 5, otherwise hit.
16. Stand on 16 vs. T whenever TC > 1, otherwise hit.
17. Split T-T vs. 5 whenever TC > 5, otherwise stand.
18. Split T-T vs. 6 whenever TC > 5, otherwise stand.

etc. on it

Best of course is to memorize everything and have no paper card with you.

But no pit boss will allow a player to use an app during play, even if the app does nothing more than the card.

So this app you created will I assume have to be used for online casinos, and with online casinos, there's no reason to use a smart phone for anything as the online casino I assume has no idea what tools you have at your disposal at your end. So for an online casino, you could just have something running on your computer in a separate window.

Something like playing chess online - on a lot of those sites many players are just using computers to calculate their moves.

So my question would be - what is the target audience for this app and other apps like it? Where do you expect people will use it?
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people. https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/betting-systems/33908-the-adventures-of-mdawg/

Apps like that are good for drill and practice. Us old people used to do it with flash cards. Some time in the 1980's I programmed my TI calculator to do drill and practice.

This was the first one i did.

At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Ah okay. I didn't think of that.

The only practice I do is with an actual double deck I practice keeping the count, keeping track of every card that has come (or is left) in the deck and also I do "paper bets" (equivalent of "paper trades") to see how it would go.

So I did use an app like Card Counter to practice keeping track of the count, because that thing flings the cards down in all sorts of different ways and increasing difficulties.

The strategies as far as when to hit or not hit, basic or via the count or deck tracking, I just memorized those and didn't think about them again. You can't really memorize every rule if it is changing based on what is left in the deck (not just the count) anyway.

Actually, most of the online sites for chess have pretty good cheat detection these days. Sure you can make accounts for free but if a player is making a top 5, let alone the #1 engine move, consistently they will get banned quickly. I play on Lichess because that is what I prefer but the very simple Chess.com has a huge user-base and just about every FIDE IM/GM use it (including Magnus Carlson the best chess player ever IMO).
