I'm considering putting $40K coin-in at MGM 9-6 JOB to take advantage of tthe tier accelerator to get to Gold status. I have minimal slot play on my card with them. I know that their tier credit/$ is theo-based -- has anyone played a similar amount that might be able to help me figure out if this is a reasonable coin-in to achieve Gold?

(No lectures on playing for tier status, please!)

Will you be playing 32,000 hands at $1.25 per deal or 8,000 hands at $5 per deal? I'd go with 32K hands because there's a better chance of recouping with the Royal Flush. I'd expect to lose $3,200 if I didn't hit a Royal with 32K hands (10 cent loss per hand); or lose $3,200 if I didn't hit a Royal with 8K hands (40 cent loss per hand). So if I was just going to stop at $40K coin-in, the expected loss could be the same, at least for me, but I'd still be trying for the Royal with 32K hands.

I would probably play their 50 play JOB at $1 level.for 160 games if that was my goal. You could be done in less than a half hour. Playing 32,000 hands at $1.25 would probably take me 25 hours.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Thanks, but qctually the cheapest 96 JOB there is 25 a spin. I don't mind the variance hit. I play plenty of volume at that amount.

I question is really only about how that coinin would translate into to tier credits.

I've never really thought about playing 50 hand JOB VP machine at the 25 cent level ($62.50/round) for 2 hours (640 rounds) to run up a $40K coin-in for points at a potential loss of $3,200 at $5 per round. Must be a reason I avoided that machine at the casino. Maybe by the time I hit some straight flushes the losing streak won't be so bad, idk.

I don't think I have ever seen a 50 play $0.25 9/6 JOB game.

Didn’t one of the CET properties in Tahoe have it forever?

Yes, I now remember the Silver Legacy in Reno having it.

I’m thinking Harrahs Tahoe, wasn’t sure if it was 50 or 100 play. VPfree showing 0.25 denom removed 8 months ago.

Your best bet so that you get a known return for your investment as you dont know with MGM. Get ceasars diamond and go to AC and get it matched over. there are some 10 dollar per credit machines at ~1% HE. You can do the diamond in a day promo and earn 5k tier in one day and get 10k free. so 5k tier = 50k coin in at 1% losing 500 if you hit a royal or not much different than the earlier numbers discussed if you dont (for some reason I subtract out the royal and multiply that HE for 9/5 and get -1743.65 for 50k coin in). But this way you have tier with both and dont have to guess...

At MGM, $1 theoretical loss = 8 Tier Credits.
So $40K coin-in at 9/6 JOB won’t get you anywhere close to the 40K tier credits needed to get the accelerator boost for gold.
Plenty of multi-game units use a single blended average for theoretical regardless of which game you play, so you might be able to play 9/6 and have the machine rate your play as generating 2% theoretical loss, which would speed things up quite a bit.
The math is easy for slot players. Most machines are rated at a 12.5% hold, so $1 coin-in does indeed equal 1 TC
Of course, a single day earning 40K TC (100K after accelerator boost) will earn pretty generous offers if that is the only time you have played there.
It’s also worth noting that while the “Gaming Day” at Vegas MGM properties ends at 6:00 AM, they use the standard day for the accelerator promotion, so you need to get all those points in before midnight!

Unrelated, but a casino I visited recently has a Player's Club that gives 1 point for every $4 spent on slots (which in this case includes VBJ) and 1 point for every $8 spent on video poker and machine roulette and the like. So if I was trying to get to 40K points, I'd have to have $160,000 coin-in on the Video Black Jack machine or $320,000 coin-in on the VP or Roulette machine. The roulette machine can take bets up to $1,000 but will trigger a hand pay for wins without the bet counting back over $1,200 on this particular model (most machines will count the bet as a win towards the hand pay).
I could play $80/hand on the VBJ machine and at 250 hands an hour bet $20K coin-in per hour so it would take 8 hours to get to $160K coin-in at that rate.
Out of 2,000 hands I'm only getting 5 bets worth of points back or a 0.25% rate of return, with VP and roulette it's half that rate. It's like bank interest rates, below cellar level.
Better to not chase comps and just pay for things with cash or credit. But if points can get you free parking, get that.
40,000 points would be equal to $400 in slot points useful for gifts, food, or lodging, maybe even concert tickets if they aren't too expensive.

Sorry I got my games mixed up. 96 JOB at MGM is single play.

Having says that, they did have 0.25 50 play 9-6 job at Harrah's Tahoe until about a year ago. They do, however, still have it at .50 ($25 min per spin)

WTF
Get the MGM credit card. It's a no fee card
Gives you MGM Pearl status
Go to Fountainblu, they will match Pearl with their Silver.
Fountainblu also gives 100 free dining credit for getting Silver
Take your fountainblu silver to Wynn and they will match you to Wynn Platinum
Take your Wynn Platinum to MGM and they will status match to MGM gold
Easy peasy, no 40k coin in.
These casino status match promotions are only for a limited time
Its just a forum. Nothing here to get obsessed about.

Doesn't MGM in Las Vegas still have the 9/6 JOB 50 play in the High limit room?

MGM is so heavily Theo based that I wouldn’t bother to earn it there. Just get the credit card or match if status is improtant yo you.

Yea never play for status especially at MGM properties. You’ll end up losing like 20 grand for gold. Even the most seasoned players don’t earn status there without losing a bunch.

I put 50k coin in there over 4 days and got a whopping $100 in FP, and $250 dining credit no suites. And that was on slots only. My trip theo was something like 5 grand, and am still 30k Tier Points from gold. People on other forums rant and rave about how they’re getting $1900 in FP from them but I can only imagine how much these poor saps are losing.
