Hymns: if you've got a worthy piece, please do share it here.

This hymn rings in my head whenever someone does me wrong.

♬♪♬♪♬♪♪♪♬♪♬♪♬♪♪♪♬♪♬♪♬♪♪♪♬♩_♬♬♪♪♪
"Where Charity and love prevail
...Forgive we now each other’s faults
as we our faults confess;
And let us love each other well
in Christian holiness..."
♬♪♬♪♬♪♪♪♬♪♬♪♬♪♪♪♬♪♬♪♬♪♪♪♬♩_♬♬♪♪♪

The hymn helps to dissipate much of my anger.

But, I'm not OK with a casino supervisor who says counting cards... is like stealing food from a buffet (a foodlifting offense), or video-taping a movie in a cinema (a piracy offense).

The Advocate

Before the throne of God above, I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high priest whose name is Love, who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on his hands, my name is written on his heart
I know that while in heaven he stands, no tongue can bid me thence depart

When satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there, who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless savior died, my sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied to look on Him and pardon me

Behold Him there the risen lamb! My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I AM! The king of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die, my life is purchased with his blood
My life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ my saviour and my God

Thanks for your fantastic sharing of the hymn. I find "The Advocate, aka Before the throne of God above." on Utube. It's another amazing hymn to listen and sing along.

I grew up in church but am no longer religious. Even so, I am enthralled by the one-man acapella arrangements by Sam Robson. I hope this is within your intentions.

Although there is a woman on the cover this is a man singing. They do more hymn like songs, I just prefer this one.

There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.

Hey guys, have you any bad experience with FLV2MP3.org?

I don't feel safe in using FLV2MP3.org which converts YouTube hymns to mp3.

My AVG AntiVirus Program detects and automatically removes a suspicious file right after the FLV2MP3.org converts a Youtube hymn. Needless to say...I close the tab and get out of the FLV2MP3.org website quickly.

I look into the AVG Virus Vault for more details on the suspicious file, but I can't find any file in the vault.

Per http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/flv2mp3.org, FLV2MP3.org is "Suspicious - This Site May Be Risky!"

Perhaps the only thing creepier than a group of people singing about a magic man in the clouds is a group of children reciting the pledge of allegiance.

I have removed the website I have been using because Dieter later posted a link that appears to be a much cleaner service without the shady ad content. Thanks D! I'm switching services.

I realize bluegrass is an acquired taste ... but nobody has to click LOL

as far as that goes, the taste for some of what was posted so far ... well, I have not acquired it, so there!

Flatt and Scruggs always get 'the credits' for this song. I have long wondered if one of them wrote it, or if it means they are just getting credit for the arrangement [often the case for an unknown author]

the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

This is a nice thread. I'm happy that it hasn't been overrun by the usual people who just love to bash religion. I'm sure the administrators would agree. Here's hoping it stays that way.

I'm atheist, but have no opinion on what others do, and some hymns are absolutely beautiful. When I did go to church, one of my favorites was "Here I Am, Lord". It's power lies not in hearing it, but in singing it; by singing it aloud, you affirm your willingness to be a part of a larger plan.
