You can easily get away with under $500. Use namebrand (Dell, Toshiba, IBM). Head over to Best Buy or Staples and try a few out for look and feel. -----

Laptops don't make great media centers and desktops don't travel well. I'm also a gamer, since it is one of the lowest cost forms of entertainment out there, and the desktop is necessary (consoles just don't cut it anymore for me).  Solo venimos, solo nos vamos. Desktop: Intel Core i5 CPU 300GB SAtA 3.0 Hard Drive 256Mb Graphics card (probably the lowest you can get nowadays) 4Gb of RAM (make sure its 2 sticks of 2gb) Then whatever else doesn't matter... Laptop: Toshiba Satellite, nuff said..., Same kinda specs as above... They say casino's aren't built on winners...
