| Trish Member since: Sep 6, 2011 Threads: 1 Posts: 4 | I recently went on a cruise and saw some crazy stuff at the black jack table and want to ask if anyone have similar experiences to share. I was playing with a bunch of high rollers at a 25 blackjack table they won 10k plus each night betting close to the max. They just have an instint of when to raise the bet, not all the hands were max but most were and usually they hit a black jack or a double down on the high bets. I'm tempted to try it but I'm a little scared. I always loose 3000-5000 on each of these trips playing 50-100 per hand so what does everyone think, bet big or stay low and steady? |

No they don't. They were either lucky or were counting cards. And why, if you're losing now, would betting big make your game better. You would just lose big. | Trish Member since: Sep 6, 2011 Threads: 1 Posts: 4 | I tried counting cards but can't keep it straight, i get so confused so I used basic strategy. I don't think they were counting because they were all drunk, acted crazy , loud and won big. We were all confused:). One of them told me they won 200K at the hardrock in Fort lauderdale.. |

Sure he did. Stick to basic strategy, bet low, have fun. If your losing thousands every time, you're not having fun. One casino owner to another: "It would be so much easier if we could just hit them over the head, steal their money, and throw their bodies in the creek." Al Swearengen, Deadwood |

| essel1 Member since: Oct 30, 2011 Threads: 0 Posts: 7 | I am a newcomer so please bear with me if I make an error of etiquette or protocol. I have been gambling since 1992, (am 43 now) and this trip to the casino (London, UK) i had a remarkable run of hands I would like to share. I started with betting 200-300 GBP a hand and was soon down 5000. Then it was up and down for a while before another bad run got me down 10,000 and soon to 15000 Pounds which was the limit I had in mind Well luckily for me I though, one for the road and put in the last bet of 500 pounds (table max) , from there my luck changed and 2 hours later I was back at 16,000 (up by about 500 pounds) I thought about playing more, but got up and walked out. I would love to get some feedback on what you all think I should have done at that point or anytime before that point Kind regards essel1 (essel1@yahoo.com) |

Points of etq.: 1] rely on private messaging here, don't post your email address, supposedly 'bots' pick it up and spam you. 2] don't hijack an old thread but start your own... altho I guess you can make a case here you didnt hijack, but I wouldnt agree, since you are bringing up a different subject. What you do in a session doesnt matter, except that it is good to have some sort of control over losses. Perhaps you had already determined that one last shot was in order when hitting the loss limit, if so, 'fine'. Lately my advice is to find out what it is you can do to limit sessions to something briefer ... if that means increasing the amount per bet to keep interest, then that is actually sensible. I just get a hint here you go at it too long. PS: my own gambling was featuring too-long sessions, so reconsidering that is where I come from giving advice on it now. I'm having to make assumptions, too, that may not be valid; what game was it? "Baccarat is a game whereby the croupier gathers in money with a flexible sculling oar, then rakes it home. If I could have borrowed his oar I would have stayed." Mark Twain |

| essel1 Member since: Oct 30, 2011 Threads: 0 Posts: 7 | Thanks for your reply, and thanks for sharing your point of view and the etiquette points. I would'nt make a case for not hijacking but would respectfully state as it was my first post, I would'nt know how to start a new topic. lol I was playing blackjack , they play european rules there, basically taking only 1 card, so if you double or split and dealer gets blackjack , bad luck to you....Yes i usually do the one for the road, and as common sense dictates, its usually the last I see of that money also, this time was luckily different for me. According to the wizard, i was probably already over betting as if you have a bankroll of 15k, you should'nt bet over 200 hands a hand, but I was probably over that anyway, if i went higher, i probably would'nt have made this recovery, as my bankroll would'nt have lasted for enough time to get the good luck run. Thanks again and Cheers |
