If you are a DI or even a craps player, never play in a sweat joint like it. They will hassle you from the first time you pick up the dice.
I can't believe that anybody that knows anything about the game of craps would play in there with only two times odds!

Even the players down there were awful. I was DP$5 and laying 4/10 just for fun over the weekend when a group of kids came up talking about huge sure-win field bets (10$) and then how the jackass in the brown jacket was the worst shooter ever and making them lose a fortune because how he could only land 6/8s.

I found it rather comedic until one of them actually had the gall to grab my arm as I was about to throw. They got kicked off the table for that.

Edit: Oh, and 3.25$ burger+fries at Steak and Shake. They also have a half-off shakes "Happy Hour" at 3 or 4PM, if that's your thing too.

I recall that the "Steak and Shake" had some inconvenient hours for a joint in Las Vegas, closing earlier than I expected (11 pm?).

If you play poker, be advised that the game there is pretty full of locals, so alter your play (or don't play) accordingly.

Midnight, and 1AM on the weekends. Past midnight though, the Coronado Cafe has some pretty solid graveyards.

It almost sounds like even the gambling sucks at this place! How is the slots? Pretty good selection? How are the cocktail servers there? All in all, is it worth it to just pay more and stay at the GVR?

A Steak n Shake that closes?!?!?! And in Vegas of all places?? WTF is this???

I still want to eventually make it here to play 8/5 Bonus Poker w/Double STP, but God, I can't get over a Steak n Shake that actually closes.

Well, before I was just killing time with craps, I finished the evening up at three different BJ tables with +100%, +300% and +105% of their respective buy-ins. The tables were getting pretty crowded, even around 1AM. Middle of a long weekend though.

One thing that I've heard people comment on, and I agree with, is that the place is unusually well lit.

Drinks come by pretty fast and I've never noticed being skipped over. I'm not a slotter, but they seem to have an interesting assortment of new and old machines available. Also Aruze Shoot to Win craps, if that's your thing. (They've removed Aruze Dealer's Angel BJ.)

Best VP and best cashback in town (0.30%). Dunno why they are stingy with craps and table games. Cocktail waitresses have very nice bunny outfits.
They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard.

Tremendous value on lodging, drinking/dining, entertainment, and machine play. Not so great on table games. A very solid property and Michael Gaughan (owner) is extremely customer-focused.

The BJ there is kind of weird, relative to common rules: No-peek and limited to 2-hand, 1xMinimum multihand play at the tables.

Does "no peek" actually help in the house edge for us? No casinos where I'm from offer that option....I am also liking not having to double your bet to play 2 hands....
