Last Tuesday I saw a couple new video poker games being installed at the Palace Station. I didn't have time to wait around for the installation to finish so asked a friend to take some pictures of the rule screens for me later. Based on on those screens, I analyzed the game and created a page for Pyramid Poker. I haven't double checked the math so I welcome the amateur mathematicians on the board to prove me wrong.
The question for the poll is would you play Pyramid Poker, given the same return as conventional video poker?

Almost 80% of the return of the game is from a poker card slot machine? No thanks.

The outcome does not look good. If I had a magic eight ball, it would agree. That's a pretty hefty bet I would rather play elsewhere. I'm pretty much against a 10 coin bet except Ux.

It's pretty much regular video poker with a random multiplier and random other wins. I don't think I've seen a video poker variant where the player has so little control over his own destiny.

I agree. Until this, the multiplier/bonus features were worth ~50% return at most and that's plenty, imo.

I made a video poker game called Pyramid Poker in 1998. Sadly at the time neither the Wizard or Jazbo could solve the game math with computing power available at that time. It would probably be much easier today.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

I've played this game before and it's absolutely awful.

I'd rather just light it on fire than do either.

I'm confused just after reading the rules. But after reading the other replies, count me as a "no".
I invented a few casino games. Info:

I vaguely recall that. JB is able to do amazing things with video poker shortcuts, if you're still trying to crack that nut. I'm sure our own ME too.

I just added more pay tables to my page on Pyramid Poker and added a proper example.

You have an error in your example. For Level 2, you indicate that you got paid for having a Queen. You, in fact, got paid for having a flush.

Thanks. Good catch.
