For those who didn't see it, Bob Dylan was on "Pawn Stars" this week in what really strains the credibility of the show. But they say it was by chance a star in his own right could wander around Caesars Palace with a camera and get another star's autograph. Read about it here http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/17386/208418.

Anyone belive Chumlee?

Almost everything of value that comes into the store is a setup. People email the producers that they'll be in Vegas and can they bring such and such. Dylan was for sure a setup. People who know Chumlee say he's not as stupid as he acts, he's really quite funny. The producers feed him most of the lines on the show. 95% of everything you see on Pawn Stars is a setup, its the way these reality shows are made. I've bought a couple things from that store over the years, Chumlee seemed like a normal guy to me.

Probably the most setup reality show is 'American Chopper'. The ratings were down, so this season its 'father against son.' Gimmee a break, do people actually believe this baloney is real? There are a few reality shows that are authentic, like 'Cops' and 'Deadliest Catch', the rest of them are staged and even rehearsed. Shows like 'Family Jewels' are a joke, I can't even watch it. The have more stuff happen to them in one episode than the average family does in a year.

I am suprised Chumlee has not parlayed it into an endorsement deal or two while the iron is hot. Though I do not care for how his portrayal has been progressing. He went from just missing the point of things to starting to get downright stupid. Much like Al Bundy started as a guy who simply could not win in the battle of life to one who you wondered how he tied his own shoes. Why does this always happen? Eventually it makes the shows unwatchable.

The Simpsons too. In the first season Homer was a fairly normal hard working guy, but degenerated into a clown.

About the question at hand, while I voted that it was a setp, it looked like Chumlee approached Dylan outside his tour bus. That would be a good place to find him. I met Cindi Lauper once that way, and got her autograph. Still, I give it a 95% chance of being fake.

Yes, Chumlee's IQ has plummeted since the first season. He gets twice as much fan mail as anybody else on the show. As usual, the producers have no idea what his appeal is, so they're ruining it. If they study Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello) they might get a clue. The people who went to High School with these guys say Jr is the stupid one. A fat, dumb, tatooed biker who was constantly in trouble when he was young. Smart as a bag of hammers.

And does anybody really believe that a lady wandered in off the street with a solid gold Faberge spider brooch encrusted with jewels, in the orig box? And she had no idea what it was? I don't for a minute think Rick actually bought it, it was a setup to make it look like he doesn't rip people off.

What? You mean they don't spend hours and hours photographing ordinary customers who walk into a pawnshop? You mean they don't actually have multiple camera and sound men on site all the time and then just wade through hours and hours of tape? The show is rigged? You mean other pawnshops of similar size in similar locations don't have comparable traffic and comparable items?

The Real World producers select for personalities that will conflict, they want them all naked in the hot tub on the first night and then screaming at each other. The Real Housewives are about as real as any other wives married to: producers, schlock marketers and speculators. Reality TV is cheap to produce.

I'm only shocked at the role PBS played in their episodes about the upscale Louds family decades ago and the fact that the PawnStars show is on the History channel.

That channel lost its integrity already. It seems like every time I surf past it, they are doing a show on Bigfoot or some kind of unsolved Hitler mystery.

I think it was real because of the fact that Bob didn't seem to know who Chumlee was. Plus he didn't really say much. He barely recognized his own album. I enjoy the show. I have tried to watch Deadliest Catch. But I soon realized I don't enjoy garbage.

It has somewhat gone downhill. "Modern Marvels" seems to have run out of ideas. I can see some of the change, put on somewhat educational reality shows, since you can only slice, dice, and show World War II so many times. But I think it has gone too far. Whatever happened to "Movies in Time?" Why not show "Winds of War" and "War and Rememberence" again? "Gettysburg" is probably owned by TWC so it may be out. But there is so much else they could do. Though I do hand it to PS, they have avoided the formula of "Ax Men" and "Deadliest Catch" where they seem to feature people doing rough jobs because they seem to be skidding on the edge of life but will take a job that pays well when you workl but is sporadic.

I think they made the decision to become more "popular" and appeal to the masses; their content originally was pretty esoteric and yes, often boring (less to me than some others, because I'm a history buff). Unfortunately, any history from more than about 80 years ago will have only stiil photos available as archival material, and this doesn't make for good theater. At least, you need an excellent narrator and a compelling script. That's what Ken Burns did in his successful series.

With 'American Pickers' they have really scraped the bottom of the barrel. Two guys who are regarded as crooks and conmen in their community now have their own TV show. God bless America.

For these reasons and others, I question if that was really Bob Dylan!
