I'm not into buffets or spending a lot of money on restaurtants. Does anyone have a recommendation for inexpensive places to eat in Vegas? I've heard Earl of Sandwich in Planet Hollywood is pretty good. I was thinking something along that line. I wasn't thinking of a place like Mcdonald's.

You're going to have to be a little more specific as to what "inexpensive" means.

Also, you mentioned Earl of Sandwich, so I assume they don't have to be "sit down" places? Do "pizza by the slice" restaurants qualify? There seem to be a number of those open on the Strip; which one you'd like is probably more a matter of how you like your pizza made than anything else.

Earl of Sandwhich locations: Planet Hollywood, Caesar's Palace, The Palms. Perhaps more, but I haven't seen any.

Ellis Island has some good and cheap pizza and really good beer, if you're into that. It can get a bit spooky in the dimly lit casino, if you know what I mean.

It shouldn't be too difficult to get a comped buffet at most off-strip casinos (assuming you play table games). Also, at The M, if you play machines, if you earn like 1,000 points ($1000 coin in) or somewhere about that, you can get a "free" buffet that way. Great buffet, in my opinion.

I haven't been to the buffet at Aliante, but it was pretty good, from what I remember. Playing $5 min BJ there got me a comped buffet (maybe 30 or 45 minutes of play).

Station's casinos' "Feast Buffet" can be hit or miss -- depends on which location you visit, according to other people at least. I've never been too fond of it, even at Green Valley Ranch or Sunset Station, where supposedly it's nicer there. At Palace Station, well.....not too good.

I don't know where you're from or what places you've eaten at / want to eat at, but there are a few In N Outs in Las Vegas as well as Rubio's (near Sunset Station, one in Aliante, one on Serene/Eastern). There are a few Chipotle's, as well. Chipotle is the best food ever.

There is also a White Castle in or near Casino Royale, although the lines are usually fairly long. Regardless, I don't recommend White Castle -- White Castle is trash.

You don't purchase White Castle, you more or less rent it for half hour to forty-five minutes

Yeah, I guess i was a bit sketchy with the details. My thinking was I just don't want to spend around 15 bucks for every meal. But, at the same time, I don't want to run to Mcdonalds every time I eat.

I guess I was looking for suggestion for a couple of decent breakfast, lunch, and dinner places. A pizza by the slice or hot dog place is fine to try out. I mentioned Earl because someone told me their sandwiches are pretty good and usually under 10 bucks. That is kind of what I was thinking. Is there a decent Chinese place where I can get some Kung Pao or something like that for around 10 bucks? Is there a decent Italian place where I can get a spaghetti or lasagna for around 10 bucks? Is there a decent burger joint where I can get a burger for around 8-10 bucks instead of close to 20? I guess that was more along the lines of what I was thinking.

I appreciate the suggestions so far.

There is a little pocket of restaurants in between Harrahs and Casino Royale that includes Mcdonalds, Chipotle, Panda Express, and some pizza by the slice.

I heard a Shake Shack opened in NYNY (entrance on the strip.) I have not been to that location but in general it fits the description of a burger that is much better than fast food but under $10. Also In-n-Out Burger but you have to drive there from the strip.

Id recommend In-n-Out also, but most people aren't looking to drive off the strip

If you have transportation there are plenty of places we could reccomend. If you don't and are limited to the strip area, there are not a lot of options other than fast food places. It is almost impossible to find a sit down place to eat on the strip with waitresses for $10.

Good call on the Hard Rock. That isn't a bad walk from Planet Hollywood.

For a slice of pizza or a dog, go into New York New York. They have a Nathan's Hot Dogs there and they have pizza by the slice in there. They also have a food court of fast food joints at Monte Carlo

I was under the impression that "fast food joints" were not what the OP was looking for. Besides - who has a better "fast food court" than Fashion Show Mall? (At least it did the last time I actually went there.)

If you want a slightly upscale "food court", what about the new Forum Food Court at Caesar's Palace? They have Earl of Sandwich, Smashburger, Phillips Seafood Express, DiFara Pizza, and Tiger Wok & Ramen.

Too me a buffet is fast food if there is no line.
You pay, no waiting for food, just pig out and leave a tip.
I love fast food buffets.

Dupars is very good and reasonably priced. We ate there twice in November when we were there. I'm a breakfast kind of guy though. Breakfast for dinner happens often in our house.
I didn't see if you specified where you were going to be. I used to enjoy the café in Binon's but it shut down. One of the only places that I ever saw fried Spam on the menu. Now they have a lunch counter, I believe.
Hash House A Go Go isn't the cheapest around but you can often get two meals out of one order. The portions are huge. Just have to have a way to keep it. And the places with refrigerators in the rooms are scarce. But The Rio has little refrigerators in the room.

On the strip, with a few exceptions, fast food is your best and only option under $10-15. As mentioned elsewhere, you will be fortunate to find a sit down meal for under $15, I'd budget $20, even at the cafes (diners within casinos). If I'm going to sit down and eat wings + a drink, I expect to pay $20 after tip.

Best deals in the town, aside from the off-hour specials, are the following two:
- Off-strip/downtown breakfast buffets. You can find these for $10 after tip with all you can eat bacon, eggs, sausage, and fruit. If you are a fan of breakfast you should eat these daily, if you don't like breakfast, you'll find something you like. Seriously, I hate breakfast and I'm saying this, try them out. MSS & Gold coast are two that I can attest to being worth the money.
- Dim sum at Rio/Gold coast. Nothing overly special other than above average dim sum at NORMAL prices. $10-12 after tip for 3 dishes.

Eat fast food as you please (includes pizza) and one $20 meal a day. Please take note that a lot of places close, so if you're in need of a meal after midnight you might be forced to pay $20 at a cafe.

NYNYLV cafe:
http://www.nynyhotelcasino.com/pdf/america-breakfast.pdf

Note that the price point of a meal is $12, add in a soft drink and it's super easy to hit $20 after tax and tip.

No Burger & Beer (with chips) for $5.00 at the Café in El Cortez yet? Excluding free buffets (because they're free) that's my favorite cheap food deal that I've personally tried!

One can also get out of the D Grill for under $15 (unless you count the tip) and I think their food is on par with anywhere that I've ever been. Great ambiance and excellent wait staff, too!

For that price range, you can also get most of the stuff on the menu at Magnolia's in Four Queens. I happen to think the food there is terrific.

The restaurant in the back of the Tuscany casino serves home-cooked meals for about $10, mostly less. Tuscany is just off-strip, maybe 2 long blocks back from LV Blvd. on E. Flamingo. Behind Bally's, and just behind Ellis Island. We had a full prime rib dinner with sides and drinks for less than 30 there. Pretty tasty.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Joyful House on W. Mountain Spring Rd. in China town (I have a family member out there that swears by it)
Five Guys Burger and Fries by SouthPoint Plaza for the burger. (same as above, really good)

Didn't the Ellis Island one used to be like 5.99 or something or is that another place that is near Ellis?

These are great ideas guys. I'm staying at harrah's but do have access to a car. I'll probably hit up the Hard Rock and try Ellis Island as well. I plan on spending a good bit of one of the days downtown. So, it sounds like I'll have decent options there as well.

Dupars at Golden Gate but its no longer 99 cents

I think there is one locals casino that still offers the 99 cent shrimp cocktail.
