So some bars out here in Vegas will let you eat for free if you are playing their machines. Anyone have a list of all these bars, and what they offer? Thanks.

Try Crown and Anchor, think there's one on East Trop and another on West Sahara. Free lunch with a $20 video poker buy-in.

I've eaten there and the food was quite good. Made $10 while pigging out on English pies. Trying to find more food choices to expand my cheap ass horizons :)

What about that minority owned casino in Hendertucky that will bring you booze and Chinese food for free while you are playing their VP machines during the wee hours of the morning. If your luck is bad, at six am you can get an egg mcmuffin and cocktail for two bucks.

I have worked on the gaming side with hundreds of taverns in Las Vegas. I would say that the majority will buy your food if you are playing enough. Obviously the question comes down to how much is enough? I have recommended to some owners that $2000 in handle is a fair number.

I'd assume it would be quarters, but I could be wrong. I also wonder how the paytables are; I can be pretty good at playing slowly...haha

Assuming single-hand quarters, how much worse would an awful paytable be, over the duration of the meal? Assuming you're not local, budgeting at least 3$ is fair for lunch (dollar menu, ho!)... VPFree2 lists the best DW as 101.28% and the worst as 94.34%. Say, 10 seconds per hand and lunch takes 40 minutes. (Cooking extra slowly, of course...) 240 hands...

...~20$? Did I do that right?

Pretty crappy but you can play BJ very slow after the barkeep sees you playing max bets for a few hands.

Is max bet on BJ $1.25 or $2.50? VP max is $1.25 right? I saw some horrible rules at Video BJ at the Quad last trip at the bar...most of their crap video poker may have been better if you max bet (best bar VP 7/5 TB+ 97.67% max). They didn't allow doubling period. The Wizard doesn't even list that rule change in his long list of rule changes.

Ya $1.25 and you're good. I like to stick to JoB just because even though the paytable sucks it's pretty consistent.

CET video BJ sucks. No doubles, no splits, no insurance, no surrender, do not pass go, do not collect $200 etc. If you're playing to get a food comp you're stuck to playing a crappy paytable and hoping for good variance. Fortunately for me I run good in short paytable VP lol.

I saw the same thing up at Aliante. No doubling, and IIRC, no splitting either. I was surprised to see such crappy rules at a locals joint.

Most taverns in Las Vegas that offer Blackjack offer the IGT paytable "BJ45" that returns 97.7%. At most locations that is the best game offered on the machines.
