Springtime in mex City is warm, tending towards hot (and I mean HOT), with clear blue skies, warm nights and very pleasant mornings.

Usually.

So far this year spring has been largely absent. We've had cloudiness, rain and cool nights as though it were summer, and cold mornings as if it were still winter. This morning dawned at 10 C, right in late April for crying out loud. And the overall daytime temps have been tolerable, meaning mild or neither hot nor cold.

Has anyone noticed something similar elsewhere? I checked the weather for Vegas yesterday and it seemed hotter than I recall, with noon temps of around 32 C and nightly going "down" to 20 C.

after a warm winter, here in DC area the spring seems colder than usual. I couldnt quickly find heating degree day facts though.

In New Jersey I personally feel that it has been a great spring so far, albeit very unusual. We have had little to no precipitation which is very odd for a spring in the Northeast and it has been unseasonably warm in both the winter and spring months. I was at the beach in February and again earlier this month. That is certainly atypical weather for us.

In Northern New Jersey, we had what we're calling a "non-winter."

The only significant snow we got was just before Halloween! It DID snow one more time requiring shoveling, but it was more of a nuisance than a real storm.

I wore shorts to work three days last week.

Then it rained and was damn cold yesterday.

Kinda weird....

Thurs/Fri it was 65-75F. I had my son at the crick fishing and swimming around. Sat it dropped to 40's and rain. Sunday night it started snowing, with a possible 16" by the time Monday is over.

But that's not retarded, that's just WNY ;)

Retarded is another word the PC Nazi's are
trying to wipe out. They don't want it used in
any way at any time. People aren't retarded
anymore, they're challenged. They think getting
rid of the word will make the challenged, well,
less retarded. Good luck with that.

Its like the word homosexual. Its was shortened
to homo and we can't have that, so we said Gay
instead. Now there are commercials on TV that
say we've turned Gay into a word as bad as homo,
and we have to stop using it that way. Time to
change again, find a new word I guess.

I'm 1000% sure that Nareed meant it in the "slowed" sense of the word. It's been very unusually cool in Mexico this spring.

It was 70F or more 11 times in Minneapolis in March. It's been 70F once in April. That was the warmest March in 130 years, followed by an almost exactly average April. We certainly could have used 15" of snow yesterday and today - it's going to be a hard summer for agriculture in the midwest.

Karate is nonsense. It's simply a martial art that people pay money to learn in order to compensate for their low self esteem. People are usually rushed through the program, buying their "black belts" within a matter of months. It's much like Taekwondo. Lot's of frilly kicks, and board breaking, but nothing of real use. Instead, try Brazilian Jujitsu. It's a real martial art.

Yes, that's what I meant. And that when it sort of gets warm, it gets rainy, too. So on one hand it's been slow in coming, and it doesn't seem to be hanging around.

It wasn't my intention to be offensive. And I apologize if that was indeed the case.

Getting back to the original thread, I would like to add that down in the Southern Hemisphere we didn't really get a summer this year. The weather was mostly cloudy and it never got really hot. Now with Autumn (Fall) halfway through, we are seeing clear sunny "summer" days. So you could say that we are experiencing a "retarded Autumn" directly corresponding to the "retarded Spring" in the Northern Hemisphere.

And to think that it's all because a butterfly flapped its wings somewhere!

Here in St. Louis, from 3/12 to 3/31, we hit 80+ degrees 10x, a new record. Normal daily high temps are 55-61. On 4/1 we hit 90 degrees! This past weekend, it was normal temps, low 60's, and it felt cold by comparison. Definitely a mixed up spring.

On the plus side, no tornado's yet.

That's exactly what they do in professional wrestling :)

You took the bait, Keyser but don't worry we all do eventually. That politically correct line is ever changing and very fuzzy. It would be helpful if the politically correct folks would publish an updated list so we know what not to say today what was perfectly acceptable yesterday.

You're absolutely right about homosexuality being referred to as a mental illness. It was declassified as a mental disorder in 1973 by the American Psychiatric Association and in 1975 by the American Psychological Association Council of Representatives. I didn't get the memo either.

I find it interesting that some of our more sensitive members think nothing of mercilessly mocking and ridiculing people's religious beliefs. There are no suspensions there and FrGamble would never ask for one. He's still fair game so go get him.

By the way when I was growing up the word gay meant happy. It was not until 1971 that it was taken to mean something else. Have a gay day everyone!
