In general, someone that works for a casino.

When I say it, I specifically mean someone that helps the casinos foil Advantage Players or Advantage Plays. I would not automatically call a casino manager a darksider. However, I certainly wouldn't want to meet up with a casino employee with them knowing I'm an Advantage Player.

A little while back I had a thread about reactions to being barred or backed off. He made me an offer about giving me tips to avoid detection and generally be a better AP as long as I didn't play any of his properties.

For what it's worth, he seems really trustworthy and I know he offered advice on an AP comp maneuver for anyone who would PM him. I COMPLETELY understand your concern though.

I'm personally trying to weigh out the risk of meeting darksiders vs gaining a few allies, learning new plays and potentially setting up the workings of teams with people there.

So apparently he has no moral problem with AP. Just monetarily he doesn't want it in his casino. Horrible!

I mean if someone asked for advice on murder I would not PM him a how-to with the caveat make sure not to murder anyone in my family.

I have a better idea.

If any darksiders show up to the fling...

We tap them on the shoulder, surround him, and tell him he is being ejected from the party and must exit the property immediately.

...people move to other casinos and positions and sometimes even branch out on their own. Surveillance guy today, Griffin employee the next day. That reminds me, a few low level employees I used to work with years ago are now slot managers at various casinos. One chick came to verify a jackpot I hit a few months ago.

Use LinkedIn to checkout casino executives. They move between casinos as a career path.

LinkedIn Tip #1: To see resumes without paying annual fees, connect to ten super-connected people, and you can see ~90% of active profiles (more than 5-10 connections, people who actually use LinkedIn). LinkedIn Open Connectors will accept invitations from anyone.

LinkedIn Tip #2: When looking at casino executives, set your viewing to "private" (or use a non-casino player's account to look). Warning: if you set to "public" in the future, those "private" views will become "public".

I think that's a pretty big leap there, Darkoz.

I don't understand. You want to tell the whole world online that you are an advantage player but you have a problem meeting people in person because they now know you are an advantage player because you told them online that you are an advantage player? I do not understand the logic?

There's a difference between someone knowing your online handle and perhaps nothing more and them knowing what you look like, what you wear, your name and other personal details. Knowing a bit is fine, knowing too much is fatal. Trust is everything, and one breach can be devastating.

Aren't you opening the door by going online and telling everyone you are an advantage player? I would think that is the starting point to get in more trouble than a person would want. Especially someone trying to avoid detection. It just seems like some sort of conflict of interest. It seems that many advantage players meet up in person which opens the door even more to be outed in some form or another. These days people take your picture with their cell phone and you don't even know it is being taken. I guess everyone on here knows better but it just seems like it would cause more harm than good.

Potentially, but there is a lot to be gained from others knowing. Team plays and learning from those more experienced than you are a few of them.
