Stolen iPad

Just a thought, as much as it sucks your iPad was stolen, at least when the new iPad comes out in a few months you can replace it with one of those :-/

When I used to be a compulsive shopper/ in need of debtors anonymous ( back when the economy was still good, who would give a 19 year old $10,000 worth of credit when the knew I was making $9.00 an hour) I would hope and wish for my stuff to be stolen so I could get new stuff- I never became a hoarder because like a bulimic I would often purge a lot of my stuff, just threw it in the dumpster- what a waste....

Aw, c'mon. A guy like the Wizard probably has at least $1,000 deductible on his policy. Why file a claim on a $700 loss? ;-)

I always have a $250 deductible, after the break in.

As an update, the police told me I had to come into a substation in person to file a report. They also said I could enter a queue for a report to be taken, and the queue wait was 2.5 weeks. There is no substation close to my house so I will probably just blow it off.

In my opinion there should be a convenient way to Email or fax in simple reports such as this. The next time Doug Gillespie runs for reelection, I will vote for whoever runs against him.

I feel bad now for suggesting you file a report. That type of service from the police department is pathetic. Even if there is no officer available at the particular moment you call, there's just no reason that somebody can't be assigned to meet you, in person, at your home or work the next day (if you work in their jurisdiction). I have a little more understanding why they don't want to make it TOO easy to file a report without talking to someone face-to-face, in order to help prevent insurance fraud. But I see reports on ID theft all the time with victims who live out of state, and those reports are taken by telephone. I would normally tell you to e-mail your complaint to the Sheriff and let him try to fix it before just voting against him, but such a simple concept (taking a report of a crime when victim calls to report a crime) should be obvious.

I'm posting below the facts of the case, just in case somebody should ever search on the serial number. My $150 reward still applies -- no questions asked. Email me if you have it.

Clever. However, I don't think those two are mine. Mine was in a brand new red leather case. The first one is a brown case and the second one has a box. My box is right here in front of me. Also, mine was pass-code protected, so you wouldn't even be able to see the menu screen. Of course, the pictures may be of a different iPad. The chances these people have mine are too low to bother inquiring about the serial number.

Do you have small claims court where you could file against the business?
